POSITION SUMMARY: These are exciting times at Stop Poaching Now (SPN.) In the summer of 2019, we officially launched our Global Conservation Education Program (GCEP). With the implementation of a tablet-based program in Zambia, Africa, and an online learning module in Laos, we are forging ahead with plans to expand these world-class programs. In order to grow these programs and expand our reach in the United States, we are seeking an exceptionally talented and highly motivated Director of Education to help us reach our full potential. Reporting to SPN’s President, the ideal candidate will have extensive teaching and curriculum development experience and a proven record of success developing and delivering environmental education programs in schools (our programs reach students in Grade 6 through college). Working with the Executive Team and Board of Directors, they will be responsible for the planning, execution, and the success of our conservation education programs (current programs include: Classroom Visits, Remote Classroom Visits, Online Learning, and Tablet-based Modules). This highly motivated and self-driven individual will be responsible for growing an already robust program, managing, and delivering the education programs as well as producing new educational content. This position requires excellent organizational and time management skills and exceptional communication, interpersonal, and networking skills. The minimum educational requirement for the position is a bachelor’s degree in Education. We look forward to receiving all applications, this is a contract position and is open to candidates looking for a full time or part time opportunity.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage the planning, production, and logistics for all components of SPN’s education programs and ensure that they are successfully executed, run smoothly, and are highly effective in promoting a strong conservation message to students.Develop new and expanded content and deliver our education programs into school classrooms (our programs reach students in Grade 6 through college).Design and produce digital (online and tablet-based) conservation-themed e-learning modules.Build an expanded network of participating schools, teachers, and volunteers. (with the support of our Board of Directors)Create, deploy, manage, and analyze pre-delivery and post-delivery surveys for program monitoring and evaluation.Create effective promotional materials for the education programs (flyers, social media posts, and web pages).Creatively explore new opportunities to expand SPN’s educational reach and impact.Monitor and report regularly on progress toward reaching targeted annual and quarterly goals for the education programs.Explore opportunities to secure funds that will support our education programs (e.g. grants and sponsors).QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS:Must be based in Los Angeles, California.Self-driven and highly motivated with the ability to work both independently and part of a team.Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Education required, master’s degree preferred.A minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in teaching.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GSuite. (Gmail and google docs)Experience in curriculum and classroom content development.Proficient in using PowerPoint to create captivating classroom presentations (Grades 6 through college).Experience working in a non-profit environment, particularly for a conservation organization, are both considered strong assets.Experience and proficiency in the use of e-learning authoring software is considered an asset.
