What You'll Do
As the Director of the Narrowband SATCOM business group you will lead multiple teams and ensure effective execution of internal and external development programs, grow and capture new strategic business opportunities, and serve as a core member of the senior leadership team. You will utilize your experience, business and technical acumen, and knowledge as a leader to spearhead strategic Viasat growth initiatives in the narrowband market and beyond. This role includes responsibility for the people, tools, and processes that enable us to consistently develop and deliver cutting edge technology within established timelines and budgets.
The day-to-day

• Accurately forecast upcoming awards, revenues, costs, and schedules.
• Develop and maintain close internal relationships to successfully leverage corporate capabilities in business development and program execution.
• Budget and schedule responsibility for Narrowband SATCOM business group.
• Assist Program Mangers in successfully executing internal and external programs to meet cost/schedule/technical objectives.
• Lead a team of program managers, engineers, and business development professionals, including providing direction, evaluating results, mentoring, and creating professional growth opportunities.
• Embody Viasat culture and values, including acting in the best interest of Viasat as a whole, accepting and relishing challenges, granting trust, freedom, and opportunity to our colleagues, and flexibly adapting when situations change.
• Work in collaboration with Viasat Government Systems (GS) business areas to execute processes, tools and approaches that support the variety of programs and projects within the GS portfolio.
• Develop and achieve organizational goals and metrics of success.
• Collaborate with leadership on strategic direction of business and help to develop and execute on vision towards long-term sustained growth.
• Lead and support business development, including formal capture and proposal process.
• Foster and create an environment that supports creativity and innovation.
• Develop and support team in close customer, prime contractor, partner, and subcontractor relationships and understand current and upcoming needs and capabilities.

What You'll Need

• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
• Significant program management experience on programs ranging from $1M to $100M’s
• Demonstrated strong strategic and critical thinking skills, understanding of financial tradeoffs, and effective risk management
• Demonstrated strong problem-solving ability, and comfort working with ambiguity
• Demonstrated success with building organizational relationships with a heightened ability to influence key stakeholders and project teams
• Significant negotiation experience with successful outcomes
• Demonstrated capability to lead and develop leaders
• Prior experience with SATCOM communications
• US Citizenship required
• A minimum of ten years of professional experience managing multiple programs and projects at-scale
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to present to all levels of an organization
• Up to 10% of travel
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
• Prior experience defining KPIs or other operational efficiency metrics
• Excellent teamwork skills; experience collaboratively scaling organizational capabilities to support business growth
• Ability to provide thought leadership and advance strategies, processes, and operations in a complex Engineering environment
• Experience establishing and managing budgets and targets end-to-end program management experience, with examples demonstrating successful achievement of technical/cost/schedule objectives.
• Minimum of ten years of leadership experience in business development and program execution.
• Familiar with Government procurement process

What Will Help You On The Job

• Active US Secret Clearance
• Prior experience with UHF DAMA/IW TDMA and/or Narrowband SATCOM communications
• Established relationships with Intelligence and Defense Customers and community with exceptional customer and partner relationship skills
• Relevant technical experience that may include satellite design, development, production, integration, and test; knowledge of RF Satellite Communications and ground networks; and related Engineering disciplines
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field

Salary range
$200,450.00 - $320,750.00 / annually
