The Director of Agile Delivery is responsible for planning, organizing, and motivating Agile teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality in delivering products that provide exceptional business value to users. The Director of Agile Delivery is responsible for managing several concurrent high visibility projects using Agile and Lean methods in a fast-paced environment that may cross multiple functional areas. This leader will assist other senior leaders in designing and implementing a framework that enables Credit Acceptance to deliver solutions faster and adapt to changing customer, market and regulatory needs.
This role requires a delivery focus that is enacted through an Agile mindset, both strategic and tactical, for a transforming organization. This thought leader must be an Agilist that understands how to apply those principles in partnership with their peer Product and Engineering leaders to achieve an outstanding customer experience and the desired product outcomes. Teams will leverage Agile management skillset to continuously evolve product development process to reduce waste and improve efficiency. You will be responsible of building strong teams to shape our culture of continuous learning and continuous improvement. Creates a culture of effective risk management, accountability, and demonstration of risk awareness across the organization.

Outcomes and Activities:
  • Drive Agile and Lean frameworks that result in quality product delivery and continuous improvement
  • Builds a strong team of Agile Program Managers who take accountability to streamline product delivery process, efficiently manage large and complex products launches across multiple business lines
  • Set the strategy and be the champion of Agile development processes across multiple value streams, mentors and coaches other Agile Program Managers
  • Partners with team members to maximize the value of matrixed thought leadership as stewards of the delivery system
  • Contributes to the greater Discover community on improving our way of working and help building long-lasting culture changes
  • This position will work from home. Occasional planned travel to an office location may be required
  • Create an environment of collaboration within the teams that allows for open dialogue and productive solutions for resolving conflicts
  • Bring ideas from professional facilitation, coaching, conflict management, and mediation to help the team become a high-performance team
  • Become a trusted partner for cross-functional leaders to ensure alignment across the organization
  • Successfully setting up pilots for a new agile way of working and then using learnings to constantly improve how we are delivering in this agile model as we expand
  • Closely monitor improvement in maturity, quality, predictability, and delivery as adoption of Agile practices increases to ensure coaching meets the required outcomes and agility for the business
  • Maintains cadence and forum for delivery system stewardship through consistent interaction model with the product families and dependent stakeholders
  • Build and deploy an Agile coaching function that delivers impact by driving consistency and commonality and helping the organization reap the benefits of Agile
  • Driving transformation across company in new agile way of working, partnering with change management
  • Leverages data and metrics to derive insights and continuously identify improvement opportunities. Drives these improvement opportunities to fruition
  • Leads the charge on building community, foster inter-team collaboration and the culture of continuous learning and continuous improvement across multiple value streams.

  • Customer-Centric: Fully understands and embraces the customer perspective and stays focused on desired outcomes to achieve product-market fit. Displays empathy and approaches problems from a customer's mindset before considering technical solutions. Deeply experienced in human centered design, design thinking and jobs to be done. Clearly defines customer benefits to accelerate decision making, understands how changes to the customer experience impacts backend processes and technologies and develops clear roadmaps that create pathways to action.
Requirements:
  • Proven track record of building and deploying an Agile function across diverse cross functional teams
  • 5+ years of experience delivering large scale Agile initiatives utilizing a variety of methods including Scrum and SAFE, using collocated and distributed delivery model
  • Experience in effective team leadership and people development
  • Sound understanding of Agile frameworks
  • Fluent in modern agile tools
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of experience in project/program management roles (using Agile and traditional methods)
Preferred:
  • Experience establishing, leading and successfully completing large transformation programs that lead to measurable result
  • Experience working in both product management and product development, preferably in an agile environment
  • Master’s Degree
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to hire, manage, coach, and inspire highly talented employees across all levels to work effectively as a cohesive team. Ability to articulate a coherent mission, focus the team, and delegate effectively.
  • Ability to lead through influence without direct authority
  • Integration mind-set and approach to ensure product dependencies and integration points are understood and delivered across product lines
  • Results-driven attitude, ability to make difficult decisions, and enthusiasm about our company and technology to persuade others
  • Be customer driven, always keeping the customer’s interest in mind when making decisions
Targeted Compensation - $250,000+ base salary + an annual bonus plan
