Position Summary:
The Director, Finance – Global ESG Reporting will report to the Assistant Corporate Controller and be responsible for the preparation of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) disclosures required globally for regulatory purposes. This individual will lead projects to accumulate the information required in the disclosures, design the control structure of the associated processes and prepare the footnote disclosures to be assurance-ready. This individual will be responsible for communication to Senior Leadership as it relates to ESG reporting requirements globally.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor SEC, U.S. GAAP, IFRS and global developments, and act as subject matter expert to evaluate the impacts of new ESG accounting and reporting standards
- Define data requirements, processes and systems needed to support external reporting needs
- Collaborate with our internal and external auditors to ensure ESG disclosures and the associated documentation are assurance-ready
- Engage with Stryker’s Corporate Responsibility team to support the strategy, initiatives, commitments and KPIs that measure the Company’s progress towards its ESG goals
- Design and manage a clear project plan to comply with new reporting requirements and communicate the status to all key stakeholders
- Lead the identification, design, and execution of internal controls related to ESG reporting
- Design and maintain standardized policies for ESG reporting (disclosure controls and procedures, estimation approach, etc.)
- Serve as an advisor and liaison between Controllership, Corporate Responsibility, Legal, Investor Relations and various other business functions to provide leadership and guidance to advance Stryker’s ESG strategy while delivering timely and accurate reporting
Education & Special Trainings:
- Active CPA preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting
Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong ability to effectively collaborate across multi-functional dotted-line teams
- Ability to multi-task on competing and deadline sensitive priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, project management and collaborative skills
- A combined 12+ years of experience is required (preferably including experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm and additional experience at a global Fortune 500 company)
- Substantial experience in and working knowledge of SEC reporting, U.S. GAAP and internal controls
- Strong organizational skills and process orientation
- Knowledge of ESG reporting requirements is a plus
- $122,800 - $271,400 salary plus bonus eligible + generally eligible for short-term and long-term financial incentives.
