Finance Director - City Of Nederland, Tx

The ideal candidate will contribute to the overall success of the City of Nederland by managing all financial tasks. They will be knowledgeable in city organization, operations, policies and procedures, GASB/FASB and GFOA standards, and GAAP rules, including the development of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate financial data and develop financial plans to meet City goals, including oversight and input into the City budget
• Produce accurate financial statements and reports, including the ACFR
• Oversee all payroll, purchasing, fiscal policy, utility billing, and internal control functions, including department staff supervision
• Effectively maintain all financial records, including performing detailed tasks, such as bank reconciliations, journal entries, and grant documentation
• Ensure compliance with all financial and accounting policies and regulations, including treasury and debt management

Qualifications

• 5+ years' of progressively responsible experience in government accounting operations, including at least two years' supervisory experience
• Strong communication and analytical skills are key.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, public administration or closely related field
• CPA and/or CPFO designation from the GFOA preferred
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
