Responsibilities
The Sustainability Reporting Lead is primarily focused on Sustainability/ESG reporting and disclosures both internally and externally. As a member of the Corporate Sustainability Team, this individual will support Weatherford’s corporate ESG / Sustainability reporting including, but not limited to CDP disclosures, submissions to external rating agencies, customer tenders and requests, contributing to annual Stakeholder Engagement exercises, Materiality Assessments, Sustainability reports, enterprise website landing pages for Sustainability and other ESG disclosures as appropriate. The individual will also maintain relationships with external ESG rating agencies, review ratings and feedback, and make recommendations to strengthen the company’s position as appropriate.
Duties & Responsibilities
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
- Responsible with being familiar with the Company's Security, Compliance & HSE policies and takes an active role in the personal compliance to, as well as improvement of Weatherford's Management System as it relates to ESG
- Where required in the case of non-conformance, exercises ‘Stop Work Authority’ to suspend operations
- Maintains the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring that all activities are carried out ethically and in compliance with Company policies and procedures, relevant laws, regulations, standards and industry practices
- Responsible for understanding and complying with the changing guidance, regulations and applicable disclosure frameworks in the ESG space and the impacts to Weatherford. This will including ensuring data is accurate and audit-able.
QUALITY
- Responsible for being familiar with the Company's Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherfords Management System as it relates to ESG, including programming related to ESG risks in supply chain
- Maintains service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business
OPERATIONAL CAPABILITY
- Supports the promotion and raising awareness, at all levels of the organization, of the impact of emerging sustainability & environmental issues.
- Enable business process for customer disclosures of ESG / Sustainability information.
- Support the company’s annual Sustainability reporting process, working across the organization and with internal and external partners to collect data, write strategic narratives, edit, and publish the report, and applicable GRI disclosures, SASB Index, TCFD Index, and UNGC reporting, etc.
- Report on progress, benchmark indices, and identify gaps to the Director of Sustainability; recommending ESG program improvements for key functions and businesses partners to advance progress and recognition
- Maintain external relationships with key ESG rating agencies (MSCI, Sustainalytics, FTSE4Good, ISS-ESG, Ecoavadis, etc.), ensuring that Weatherford’s ESG performance is accurately reflected and communicated
- Monitor trends and benchmark best-in-class reporting and disclosure practices. Recommend enhancements to Weatherford’s data collection and reporting methods
- Contribute to the development of sustainability reporting procedures & guidelines as well as short/long range planning
- Contribute to or lead the development and implementation standards, guidelines programs and measurable KPIs for areas as applicable to address their scopes of work in order to meet the overall ESG strategy
- Support the management of applicable contractors/3rd party groups supporting ESG disclosures and annual reporting activities.
- Support the management of project budgets, schedules, action and workplans, and resources to project completion
- Support ensuring that sustainability data and supporting data systems are accurate and timely in their provision to the company and audit-able to support the changing requirements from SEC
- Identify and communicate best practices to allow the ESG Governance Committee to work effectively and efficiently in their engagements with sub-committees, any other groups, agencies, clients and the Board of Directors
- Develop ratings & recommend ranking/monitoring strategy for the company, working closely with internal stakeholders
- Works hand in hand with HSE to align with traditional environmental requires and adapting that data to feed ESG goals
- Manage key non-financial disclosures including submissions to CDP, Ecovadis, etc.
- Coordinate and strengthen process for corporate sustainability disclosures to our stakeholders
COMMUNICATION
- Support the implementation of specific sustainability requirements from contracts.
- Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external
- Interface with offices globally in support of disclosures clients and projects if required
- Assist with customer questionnaires as it relates to corporate sustainability
- Supports the Sustainability Director with ongoing reporting and communication, including but not limited to ESG operational, executive leadership and Board of Director reviews to promote progress updates, alignment and understanding of changing regulations, guidance and Weatherford plan of action in ESG
FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE
- Costs incurred should be within approved budget and processed within agreed time frames and following the relevant financial policy and procedure
- All employees have an accountability to the organisation to be financially responsible whether they are in charge of a function budget or simply their own expenses
- Supports the Sustainability Director with the development and management of any sustainability costs and financial implication
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
- Provides coaching and mentoring to support career development to direct, and where appropriate, indirect team members in the Sustainability/ESG space
- Regular engagement with line manager to discuss personal performance, objectives and opportunities to enhance their skills and experience to support their career potential
- Supports any location-specific regulatory sustainability education and training programs and requirements.
- Employees have a responsibility for developing their own careers within the Company including completing all necessary function training to enhance their skills and experience
- Supports the development and delivery of training courses and awareness raising communications for a wide range of environmental & sustainability/ESG issues
- Completes all assigned Compliance & Company Standards training
VISION & LEADERSHIP
- Driving culture and change management across the organization for ESG understanding and awareness
- Ability to communicate ESG related programming needs and influence departmental subject matter experts on the enhancement of Weatherford management systems, KPIs, monitoring, enforcement and defend-ability of ESG evidence with the goal of improving disclosures and external ES ratings
- Is an active member of appropriate internal and external ESG and/or professional committees to further information on Weatherford’s Environmental Strategy
Qualifications
Experience & Education
REQUIRED
- Experience in developing external ESG related disclosures
- Proven track record in improving prior employer ESG ratings
- Proven ability to independently manage complex projects and brief senior leadership
- Highly organized with strong project management skills
- Strong knowledge of current topics related to sustainability/ESG
- Strong network of ESG professionals across the disclosure, reporting and GHG calculation space
- In depth knowledge of various ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, SBTi) and disclosures (e.g., CDP, Ecovadis), and rating agency evaluations such as Sustainalytics, MSCI, etc.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- 4-6 years or more of related professional experience, 2-3 years specifically in ESG
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Communications, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong influencing, collaboration, oral and written communications skills
- Experience leading and facilitating group process and collaboration, team player
PREFERRED
- Integrated Reporting (IR) Fundamentals of Integrated Reporting Certificate
- Green building certifications (i.e., LEED Green Associate)
- Experience in sustainability assurance projects or activities
- Second language (one of the five core WFT languages)
- Exposure to carbon footprint reduction projects and best practices
- Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting Credential
- Experience in developing and providing training courses and programs
- Experience in developing external Environmental, HSE or Sustainability/ CSR reports
- Preference for sustainability program development experience
- CDP Climate Change Survey Certification
- GRI Certified Sustainability Professional
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
REQUIRED
- Intermediate skills at using Microsoft Office suite including 365 and Project Manager
- Detail-oriented and experienced in reviewing and summarizing comprehensive technical documents
- Good presentation and facilitation skills and the ability to communicate with large groups of people
- Ability to collaborate with others and have good team building skills
- Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision
- Critical thinking/reasoning ability.
