Job Description


The Director of Finance & Operations will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial data for all accounting and financial operations and have oversight of the order fulfillment process of the company, including:


Financial Operations


  • Maintaining proper accounting policies, procedures, controls and records
  • Producing accurate monthly and annual financial reports that fully comply with GAAP
  • Work with the majority shareholder on other company financial matters
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the business and become a trusted advisor to the President and assist in the development of strategic plans
  • Preparing periodic operating budgets and forecasts
  • Managing the company’s cash and working capital
Order Fulfillment Process


  • Oversee production operations and optimize the company’s cost, quality and delivery of its medical devices
  • Oversee procurement of components and supplies used in production and operations


Team Management


  • Motivate staff and ensure optimal training and development for accounting and production staff totaling currently totaling 11 team members
  • Translate business objectives into team's Finance objectives and manage performance
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the company’s accounting and IT technology platforms and software for both financial and managerial accounting purposes
  • Maintain strong relationships with the company’s banks and lender
  • Develop the individual team members within the finance department
  • Maintain and implement documented system of accounting policies, procedures, controls and records of accounting transactions
  • Manage the operations of the accounting department, including an organization adequate for achieving the company’s financial goals and objectives
Period end closing and reporting:


  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Issue timely and complete financial statements that fully comply with GAAP
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Perform analytical reviews
  • Develop monthly reporting packages and Executive KPI/Performance dashboards focusing on key performance indicators to track and explain financial performance vs. Budget
Compliance:


  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with lender debt covenants
  • Ensure a high level of compliance with standards e.g. Audit Compliance, SOPs, Organizational Change Initiatives, and relevant external and internal regulations and guidelines
Operations business partnering:


  • Identify and implement operations cost savings initiatives
  • Lead production manager to ensure company maintains high perfect order rate
  • Ensure production department maintains compliance with company’s quality management system
Inventory management and validation:


  • Perform stock takes as per company guidelines
  • Perform monthly inventory analyses and projections
Collaboration:


  • Collaborate with internal and external shared service support teams and business process owners to ensure a smooth relationship and a seamless delivery of the in-scope finance activities
  • Collaborate with functional leaders to ensure smooth support
  • Demonstrate consistent collaborative leadership principles and lead the finance organization to be a best-in-class internal service partner
Qualifications


  • Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles and processes
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience
  • Solid experience in leading teams
  • Willingness to learn and lead the company’s operations side of the business
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Strong project and change management skills
  • Previous finance experience in medical device, healthcare technology company or similarly regulated industry with manufacturing and development activities strongly preferred
  • Ability to set long-term financial targets and sponsor performance improvement projects
  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) in accounting
