Deltas Employee Communications team keeps Delta people at the forefront of all we do. Were looking for strategic, collaborative communicators who like using innovative tools and tactics that inform, inspire and mobilize Deltas 80,000+ employees to help us be our best for our customers.
The teamhas an immediate opening for a strategic team leader and communications thought partner to support Deltas Chief Customer Experience Officer, and the leadership and communications teams representing more than 60,000 operations employees. This leader will grow and develop a team of approximately 20 professional communicators to create and implement effective strategies that embody world-class employee communications, support Deltas enviableculture and help the company exceed its business goals on our journey to better connect the world.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and cultivate an expertise in employee communication.
- Grow and develop a team of matrixed communications professionals who balance the priorities of the business unit with Deltas corporate objectives, aligning both strategy and tone so that we are one team communicating with one voice.
- Support internal issues management on employee-facing topics; Play integral role in crisis response.
- Stay current on leading trends to deliver practical and insightful communication recommendations and thought leadership
- Coordinate across the broader Global Employee Communication team and work holistically across Corporate Communications and Marketing to support strong and consistent delivery of global, enterprise initiatives.
- Counsel senior level executives and work holistically across Deltas Brand Communications team to drive a unified voice and amplify and align key messages and content.
- Ensure alignment across teams for both day-to-day communications needs and large corporate initiatives. Lead internal communications strategy for both customer experience initiatives and operational programs.
- Lead team to develop new communication strategies that support Deltas business goals, provide employees with the information they need to provide a differentiated customer experience and foster our culture of being a great place to work.
- Serve as a strategic advisor on select leadership teams in partnership with other communication leaders.
- Benchmark and identify best practices in employee communication
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
- Where permitted by applicable law, you have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.
- Must have excellent writing skills, with the ability to think and communicate clearly, formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues, and create a concise and well-written narrative.
- Experience growing and developing teams required
- Minimum of 15 years of employee/internal communications-focused experience required
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential.
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications/journalism or related field preferred.
- Should have the ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels of management and front-line employee groups.
- Strong track record supporting senior executives is required
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
