The Director of Sales and Marketing will be responsible for sales, marketing, revenue management and event sales/service results through a heightened focus of ‘resort’ brand and innovative strategic actions plans that drive continual performance improvement. Lead the sales, marketing, revenue and events team that will continue to progress the resort’s key financial and customer metrics.

Requirements


  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet and work effectively under time and resource constraints
  • Having availability to travel
  • Skill in development and delivery of sales presentations.
  • Ability to demonstrate expert knowledge and customer contacts in the corporate and incentive group markets and luxury leisure markets.
  • Preferred Four-year college degree from an accredited institution; Bachelor's degree in in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel + Restaurant Management, or related major or equitable professional experience
  • At least 8+ years of experience in sales and marketing leadership, preferably with destination resort or independent big box experience
  • Strong financial planning and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to recruit, motivate, train and retain management and sales team
  • Experience managing/marketing luxury brands
  • Intellectual and analytical curiosity
  • Knowledge of travel and meeting industry, current market trends and economic factors.
  • Computer proficiency and knowledge of various software programs, including a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, sales operating systems, social media and search engine applications
  • Ability to deal with internal and external customers and staff, collect accurate information and to resolve conflicts positively
  • Knowledge of developing and executing sales and marketing objectives and strategies required; experience with online marketing, advertising, and finance/budget planning and leading senior managers
  • Experience with luxury brands, for example Hermes, Channel or Ultra Lux hospitality


Responsibilities And Authorities


  • Comply with company sales reporting standards using Opera Sales & Catering, and all other company sales, reservation, distribution systems.
  • Produce effective structures, processes and performance management systems
  • Develop expert knowledge of the hotel, it’s signature outlets and seasonal events, drive current and aspirational product positioning in marketplace, seasonality, pricing strategies and master the competitive advantages to the hotel's primary/aspirational competitive sets
  • Create and suggest strategies and tactics for all resort revenue centers in the annual business plan (Creative marketing projects, involving Social Media, Editorial Content, Public Relations, Cultural Partnerships and Special Events)
  • Partner with Talent and Culture to help resort attract, develop and retain diverse, high-performing talent that can lead the organization today and strengthen the leadership bench for the future growth of hotels
  • Create hotel marketing calendar and media plan, and provide support as appropriate / required in the development of marketing support materials for area-wide initiatives
  • Manage the sales and marketing budget to enable development of resort specific campaigns, promotions and collateral to drive revenue and meet revenue/reputation objectives
  • Maintain positive relations and high visibility in relative business organizations such as Experience Scottsdale, Visit Phoenix, ALHI, Helms Briscoe, Virtuoso, American Express, Cvent and hotel top’s accounts.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership to direct report department leaders (Director of Sales, Director of PR, Associate Director of Marketing, Director of Meetings and Events, Design Director and Director of Revenue Management to achieve assigned objectives with overall responsibility for achieving hotel revenue and reputation goals
  • Research and maintain knowledge of customer intelligence in evaluating the market and economic trends that may lead to changes in sales or marketing strategy to meet or exceed customer, brand and owner expectations
  • Increase market share by creating hotel-specific promotions to be communicated using the hotel, brand, 3rd party channels and on-site marketing communication vehicles
  • Continuously evaluate the hotel(s) involvement in the various sales and revenue distribution channels and develop strong working relationships to proactively position and market the hotel(s) accordingly
  • Participate in and attend monthly sales, marketing and revenue brand leadership calls to stay abreast of brand guidelines, campaigns and organizational changes.
  • Develop strategic alliances/partnerships to support marketing initiatives.
  • Provide direct leadership to help drive productivity and performance of the marketing team and their timely execution of specific assignments.
  • Proactively report on the progress and results of the marketing plan and related strategic activities, to include key metrics as well as conversion and return on investment data to key stakeholders
  • Sets goals and expectations for direct reports, align performance and incentives, manages performance issues and holds team accountable for results
  • Manage the development of a strategic action plan for the demand generators in the market and at the resort to maximize revenue opportunities and reputation
  • Provide continual improvement programs for division talent; work with Talent and Culture team to anticipate future talent needs based on business growth plans
  • Establish annual sales goals, preparation of budget, and marketing plan. Meet or exceed the annual sales revenue goals, including sales, website, reservations and social media production.
  • Develop, implement and execute marketing and sales strategies in a quarterly action plans to impact existing key accounts, target accounts and the development of new business opportunities within target business segments.
