Purpose of Position

The Coordinator-Graduate Student Success is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and assessment of Graduate School student support, professional development, outreach, and recruitment activities that serve graduate students from UTEP’s 24 doctoral programs and 100+ master’s and certificate programs. The Coordinator-Graduate Student Success works closely with Graduate School staff to support programs that advance key unit and institutional measures for student success, with a particular focus on degree completion (including time to degree), retention, and research productivity.

Essential Functions

·Manages the planning, coordination, and implementation of student support and professional development activities (virtual and in-person) including graduate student orientation and onboarding and other workshops that support graduate student success.

·Leads the administration of Graduate School internal funding mechanisms (e.g., Travel Grant, Research Grant) including application, review, and selection processes.

·Supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of the annual Grad Expo research symposium and Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.

·Supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of outreach and recruitment activities (virtual and in-person), including the development of print, web-based, and social media content.

·Collaborates with Graduate School staff in maintaining email and social media communications calendars highlighting key dates and deadlines related to admissions, enrollment, degree completion, professional development, funding, and related outreach activities.

·Assists with Graduate School website to ensure ease of navigation, accurate content, and effective messaging that engages prospective students, supports the student life cycle, and provides necessary information to graduate program staff and faculty.

·Flexibility to work occasional evenings and/or weekends to support Graduate School events.

·Other duties as may be assigned.

·Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience and training.

Preferred Qualifications

·Demonstrated customer service, project management, and team-oriented skills.

·Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills.

·Proficiency with standard office software applications.

·Graduate degree and awareness of graduate education.

·Written and spoken proficiency in Spanish
