What you’d do:
As an Addiction Treatment Community Outreach Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in our organization's efforts to engage with the community, raise awareness about addiction treatment services, and connect individuals in need with appropriate resources. Your passion for helping others, excellent communication skills, and ability to build relationships will be instrumental in making a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with addiction.
How you’d do it:
- Conduct outreach activities within the community to educate individuals, families, and community organizations about addiction, available treatment options, and support services.
- Build and maintain relationships with local healthcare providers, community leaders, social service agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to establish a strong referral network.
- Collaborate with the Community Outreach team to develop and implement community outreach campaigns, including workshops, seminars, and informational events.
- Act as a resource and point of contact for individuals seeking information about addiction treatment, providing guidance, answering questions, and offering support.
- Conduct assessments and screenings to identify individuals in need of addiction treatment services and refer them to appropriate programs.
- Assist in coordinating and organizing community events, such as health fairs, awareness walks, and recovery celebrations, to promote addiction recovery and reduce stigma.
- Collect and maintain accurate data and records related to outreach activities, referrals, and community engagement efforts.
- Stay informed about current trends, developments, and resources in the field of addiction treatment and community outreach through continuing education and professional networking.
What you’d need:
- preferably a degree in social work, public health, or a related field (relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
- Strong knowledge and understanding of addiction, recovery, and available treatment resources.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse populations and establish rapport quickly.
- Experience in community outreach, public speaking, or education is preferred.
- Knowledge of local community resources and referral networks related to addiction treatment and recovery.
- Empathetic, non-judgmental approach to working with individuals affected by addiction.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
- Proficiency in using computer systems, productivity software, and digital communication tools.
