Controller/Director Of Finance

Universal Photonics, a Long Island based global-leader in critical preparation materials, dedicated to advancement of surfacing and polishing technologies, is seeking a Controller/Director of Finance. If you are a seasoned Finance leader with corporate experience, someone excited by a project and excited to make an impact in a growing organization, this is the opportunity for you. The successful candidate will be responsible for the organizations accounting functions, financial policies and procedures and planning. This is a hands-on position!

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the all property and liability insurance coverages
• Oversee the compiling of cost standards, BOM and inventory valuations.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated close procedures and ensure the timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy of information used to prepare internal financial reporting to management.
• Collaborate with external auditors and manage audit requests to drive timely completion of annual audits.
• Direct the activities of all accounting functions, including accounting, treasury, payables, billing and credit and collections.
• Collaborate with the CFO, cross-functional leaders, and other members of the finance team to provide advice on financial implications of business activities and to ensure business objectives are delivered.
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
• Coordinate the ISO process for the department, development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Prepare monthly sales reports
• Perform other related duties and projects as necessary or assigned.
• Manage and maintain a high-preforming accounting team.
• Review monthly-consolidated financial statements along with variance analysis and all account reconciliations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the organization
• 10 years' experience in accounting leadership role.
• SAP by Design experience is a big plus.
• 10 years total accounting experience with progressively more responsible experience.
• A high level of analytical ability is required in order to gather and interpret data and to find solutions to unusual and difficult problems.
• CPA and/or MBA
• Ability to be adaptable and flexible and operate effectively in a growing environment
• Excellent written and oral communications skills are also required
