SCOPE
The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be responsible for using the Lean Manufacturing methodology to drive operational process improvements that support increased OEE and reduced Waste among other key strategic initiatives. This position will identify, develop, and execute Kaizen & 5S events at the plant. The individual will provide mentoring, coaching and training at the shop floor level to support the use of the continuous improvements methodology and tools (Data Collection, Visual Management, Center lining, Preventative & Predictive Maintenance, Rapid Changeovers and Troubleshooting).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coach and support individuals to successfully complete Kaizen & 5S Events.
- Lead complex, high return Kaizen Events/Projects.
- Partner with the plant in identifying and selecting Lean Projects/Kaizen Events that are aligned to key business priorities (including management of Loss Analysis opportunities and other similar activities).
- Act as a change agent, systematically driving use of lean manufacturing for continuous improvement and change throughout the plant.
- Monitor and report on the lean programs, 5S and Kaizen event progress of the plant.
- Performs other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
Complexity
- Must continuously challenge the status quo to drive culture change at the plant towards a methodical, data driven approach to problem solving with an emphasis on root cause problem solving and sustaining improvements.
- Working with people at all levels within the plant with varying levels of Lean Six Sigma, experience a plus.
- Involved across all phases of Lean manufacturing projects including identification, selection, execution and sustainment.
- Working closely with corporate to monitor the continuous improvement program and improve overall program effectiveness.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 year Engineering degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Industrial
- Proven experience in leading and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
- Effective Communication Skills (Mutual Understanding & Support) written & verbal.
- Formal Project Management Skills from concept to implementation and support.
- Effective Team Dynamics Skills
- Effective Meeting Skills
- Quality Control Plan, related SOP's and Work Instructions
- Applicable Safety Rules & Regulations
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
