The Content Specialist is responsible for procuring, developing, and correcting new, updated, and existing content for publication in PPI products. The Content Specialist works directly with cross-functional teams, including external SMEs, to communicate key product vision, specify scope, monitor schedules, and report on and solve issues that arise. The successful candidate has a keen interest in customer satisfaction and business performance.


Primary Responsibilities


Content Development


  • Review products prior to release for completeness, accuracy, adherence to standards, quality, and accuracy.
  • Using an editorial eye for detail, identify and correct non-subject specific errors and inconsistencies in content that make the content exam-like and easy to understand for students.
  • Acquire and review engineering and architectural content for quantitative and qualitative relevance, quality, and accuracy against scope.


Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Author Management


  • Hire independent contractors (SMEs), and manage them to create high-quality, usable content.
  • Work towards established goals of minimizing the number of customer-reported content errors by training SMEs to fully correct content the first time they receive such reports.
  • Work with SMEs and Authors to develop milestones and timelines for projects. Manage SME deliverables against schedule. Work with them to overcome obstacles. Provide ongoing feedback and guidance as deliverables are submitted. Make decisions about discontinuation of work, if necessary, quickly.


Project Management


  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, particularly subject-matter experts, to coordinate on tight deadlines.
  • Independently manage projects including all communication with internal stakeholders, and tracking of projects from conception to launch. Often includes written and verbal communication and assessment with external SMEs to determine feasibility of schedule.


Minimum Requirements


  • Complete assignments within prescribed deadlines
  • Self-starter with high energy and diligent work ethics, demonstrated ability to meet tight deadline
  • Research product needs, current available assets, and possible content acquisition strategies to fill needs
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to change focus and prioritize projects based on organization needs
  • 2+ years of experience in Content development, content project management
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Communications, Economics, Business, English or related fields
