The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Clinical Coordinator to perform specific tasks within Perioperative Services.
Position Specific Summary: Provide leadership in clinical care coordination/specialized nursing care through care planning with preference cards, charge reconciliation, documentation audits, assistance with clinical coordination in central scheduling, verifying clinical resource needs, using clinical nursing to in improve nursing and health care through the management of quality or design of informatics.

Provide Leadership and Oversight for Specialized Services or Populations:
- Participate in patient management to facilitate preference card accuracy.
- Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, and other health professionals in planning, care for specific patient populations by providing surgery scheduling oversight.
- Participate in reconciliation of surgery charging.
- Apply expertise in specialized field of nursing to lead efforts to improve nursing quality and other services that support the practice of nursing. Areas of focus are care planning, surgical schedule oversight, charge reconciliation, and documentation audits.
- Provide specialized health education to health profession students and residents applicable to patients in field of expertise.
- Communicate detailed, complex medical information to a variety of audiences.
- Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives.
- Report variances and work to address them.
- Follow and apply policies and meet documentation requirements.
- Recommend policies and/or procedures enhancements that address new and improved care processes.
- Provide direction, assignments, evaluative feedback, coaching and counseling to staff, students and residents to assure outcomes are achieved.
- May hire, develop, and manage the performance of staff and assure compliance with UI policies and procedures.
