Prime Video is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to drive customer insights for the Programming and Audience Development team. As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will generate insights that guide content programming, selection optimization, and product development for our customers.


You will be tasked with building a more granular and complete understanding of who our customers are and how they engage with content across the Prime Video Marketplace. Data analysis is at the core Amazon’s culture, and your work will have a direct impact on decision making and strategy for our team and helping senior leaders make key business decisions. You will have the opportunity to work with one of the largest and most complex data warehouses in the world to gather insights using data from both 1st party data and research data.


The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and large datasets. They will have strong attention to detail and an ability to work in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. They will have strong SQL skills, experience building data visualizations in Tableau or QuickSight, and the ability to clearly communicate information to business stakeholders.


Key job responsibilities


  • Proactively develop new metrics and studies to quantify customer behavior and reduce customer churn in programming.
  • Build scalable, efficient, and automated data processes to inform business decision making.
  • Apply data mining, quantitative analysis, and qualitative to understand how our customers interact with Prime Video. Then identify the best way to optimize our selection.
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing performance insights metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
  • Analyze and improve dashboards, operational business metrics decks, and key performance indicators.


About The Team


The PAD BI team is the primary BI partner to the Global Programming Strategy and Global Consumer Insights team. Our scope encompasses infrastructure development along with driving insights through analytics solutions that make complex data clear and easy for stakeholders to self service. We measure success based on the adoption of these services and their usage in development pipelines, greenlight recommendations, and service-level gains with target audiences.

Basic Qualifications


  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics allowing better understanding of the performance of the business
  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
  • 5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $79,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
