Job Summary
The Billing Assistant will assist in preparing, receiving, and reviewing invoices and related documents for completeness and compliance with company policies and contractual requirements. The Billing Assistant will assist with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the Billing Assistant functions and duties.
The Billing Assistant has partial responsibility for these areas:
- Maintain a team orientation in dealing with co-workers.
- Resolving staff and customer concerns relating to billing related questions.
- Being capable and responsible for all aspects of quality service for staff and customers.
The Billing Assistant contributes to the accomplishment of The Billing Assistant practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.
The Billing Assistant helps with the implementation of services, policies, and programs through Billing staff; reports to the Administrator and assists company managers with billing issues.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Administrator and other staff in the billing department as needed.
- Reviewing and entering Explanation of Benefits/deposits daily by posting revenue into patient accounts from insurance companies and patient payments.
- Assumes other duties as assigned.
- Meet Established department standards regarding the quantity and quality of work produced.
- Reviews, analyzes and checks documents for accuracy and makes necessary adjustments or corrections through established procedures.
- Implement best practices to ensure billing is completed accurately and timely via electronic submissions and paper claim submissions.
- Must comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Must comply with company rules, policies and procedures
- Appeals/Processing of denials.
- Knowledge of pay sources.
- Maintain constant communication and a working relation with Therapist, Mentors and Business Office Managers.
- Recommends or participates in the development of new procedures and policies related to billing operations.
- Reviewing and prepare daily billing from Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapy treatments.
- Accepts and acts upon constructive feedback.
- Consistent with the compliance and implementation of department and company policies and procedures.
- Able to carry out various tasks, day-to-day Billing Assistant duties.
- Ensures the completion of appropriate documents prior to processing any adjustments.
- Create and maintain labels and folders on a monthly basis for billing.
- Contacting insurance companies with claims related inquiries and consistently reviewing Accounts Receivables to ensure the company maintains a standard set margin of collections.
Job Qualification
1. Minimum Education required: HS diploma or G.E.D equivalent required.
2. Minimum Experience required: Minimum 1-year of general business experience, Billing experience preferred.
