The Benefits Specialist is responsible for addressing the day-to-day needs of the client and internal employees in all benefits (health and welfare/retirement) related activities including education, eligibility processing, invoicing, leaves of absence, while providing responsive employee service.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the Cobra Administration and billing with third party vendor and other reconciliation as needed.
  • Monitor and Processes Evidence of Insurability (EOI) for open enrollment and monthly newly eligible employees
  • Primary contact for employees regarding disability concerns, Leave of Absence accessibility and accommodations. Coordinates the process according to the Leave of Absence policy.
  • Assist in the administration of Health & Welfare plans, including medical, dental, vision, life and supplemental insurance. Coordinate new hire and open enrollments. Order new benefit cards from providers, as needed. Facilitate open enrollment meetings. Assist in the administration of the 401K Plan
  • Provides follow up with employee and management regarding documents, monitors employees going out and returning from LOA. Work with managers and employees on LOA payroll matters (benefit deductions).
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Assist in the administration of FMLA: educate and coordinate leaves with managers and employees, maintain/update files, etc. Ensure that all leaves of absence are handled in compliance with state law, FMLA guidelines, and LOA policy. Has a thorough understanding of company policies to ensure accurate, fair and consistent policy provisions.
Qualifications
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office and HRIS skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of benefit plan contracts and agreements: health and welfare, retirement plans
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Knowledge in Group Employee Benefit Laws and Regulations
  • Excellent communication skills oral and written; able to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Benefits Administration
  • Excellent customer service skills
