Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Human Resources Benefits and Leaves Specialist is responsible for researching, recommending, and explaining benefit programs and coordinating leaves of absences. The HR Benefits and Leaves Specialist reports to the Senior Human Resources Manager and works cooperatively with all Goodwill Industries staff.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

  • Provides management planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing employee benefit data and trends
  • Works closely with the Senior Human Resources Manager to maintain an efficient and organized department.
  • Manages all leaves of absences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Explains employee benefits by conducting meetings; preparing written and graphic announcements and explanations; responding to requests.
  • Assist in explaining employee benefit practices by benchmarking best practices; researching industry and employment trends; tracking legislation and estimating impact.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must pass drug screening test
  • Ability to analyze information
  • Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive personnel data
  • Attention to detail is critical, must be able to function independently in a work setting
  • Proficiency in Excel and MSWord required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of organizational personnel
  • Must meet Goodwill quantitative and qualitative performance standards
  • Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or property

Education and Experience:

  • Three to five years of Human Resources experience is preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with HRIS systems, specifically Paycom, is strongly preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:

  • High adaptability required
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment
  • Work environments usually hectic (fast-paced) with frequent short deadlines and regular instances of critical or unusual situations
