Fenway Health’s Communications Specialist is responsible for creating, recommending, and executing graphic, written, and digital communication strategies in close cooperation with staff from across the organization in support of Fenway Health’s mission and the work of its various departments and divisions. This position is also responsible for assisting with media relations and internal communications.
The Communications Specialist reports to the Director of Communications. This is primarily a remote position with occasional need to support onsite events in the greater Boston area.
Communications Management & Content Creation
- Write content for the Fenway Health blog
- Produce Fenway Health’s podcasts
- Assist with media outreach and responding to press inquiries
- Provide support to the Director of Communications in drafting content for internal and external emails, Fenway Health print materials, press releases, and web sites
- Edit and update online content, including the events calendar, provider, and staff profiles
Social Media
- Send timely and frequent updates from Fenway’s social media accounts using a consistent and appropriate voice and following best practices
- Monitor social media benchmarks such as followers, engagement, and online reputation using available tools
- Direct feedback and questions from social platforms to the appropriate Fenway staff
- Create social content and campaigns to drive traffic to our websites, Fenway programs, and events
- Manage and grow Fenway’s online community through the use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, SnapChat, and YouTube
Graphic Design
- Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on the needs of and with direction to support various organizational initiatives, events, and program staff for both print and digital communications
- Manage internal client needs and expectations while adhering to design best practices and Fenway brand guidelines
- Generate printer-ready files and coordinate file delivery to print vendors
- Acquire appropriate stock images to supplement Fenway’s existing image library
- Create charts, graphs, and other illustrations
- Experience in blog writing, and social media marketing & engagement
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with colleagues, patients, clients and vendors across the spectrum of diversity, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, national origin and immigrant status, religious or spiritual identity, disability (physical, mental, emotional and developmental), veteran status, and/or limited English proficiency.
- The ability to meet deadlines within a team environment
- Hands-on experience using CRM, social media measurement and/or analytics programs
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
- Experience working in an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environment preferred
- Willingness to contribute towards Fenway’s efforts in becoming an anti-racist organization and promoting a culture dedicated to ongoing development in service of humility, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, where differences are acknowledged and valued.
- Understanding of how online communities can drive goals
- The ability to produce innovative design and layouts while working within Fenway’s graphic standards
- Experience designing for print and electronic publication
- Degree or at least four years professional experience in graphic design or communications-related field
