Ford is seeking a Remote Battery Cell Category Manager with expertise in EV value chain expertise and taking action to increase our internal proficiencies. Prioritizing raw material purchasing is essential to support our ICE to BEV acceleration. In this 100% remote role, you will provide the supply base and material supply security vital to deliver Ford’s Electrified Powertrain business plan. Drive Engineering Matched Pair support to ensure execution of quality supply, strategic sourcing, cost opportunities.
What you'll be able to do:
- Manage relationships with existing and future material suppliers.
- Define timing and quality of junior/developing assets.
- Lead business case development and strategy execution as raw material PoV owner.
- Define efficient processing routes for available feedstocks. Work with cell supplier to define integration opportunities within the supply chain.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategy for Lithium raw materials delivering a balanced portfolio of producing assets that meet Ford’s capacity, cost, timing, and ESG needs.
- Understand industry and asset specific cost curves and flow sheets.
- Interface with Price Reporting Agencies, establish relationships with industry analysts to supervise market pricing and study its impact to Ford’s costs / program financials.
- Supervise market developments and its impact to Ford’s raw material strategy.
- Liaise and support consulting engagements as vital to support Ford’s business objectives.
- Partner with our finance team and controller’s office to update quarterly material indices and forecasted pricing mentorship based on 3rd party data.
- Investigate asset specific capacities and annual output capability.
- Lead term sheet (RFQ/RFI) and supply agreement negotiations for material supply.
- Analyze market supply/demand balances and deficit risks.
- Collaborate with Ford Sustainability Group to ensure ethical sourcing practices are reflected in Ford’s existing supply chain.
- Work with Product Development, Cell Supplier(s) and Cathode producer to establish material specifications and performance targets.
- Map existing and develop future state value chain maps and identify localization opportunities throughout the material value chain.
- Coordinate supplier audit discussions and lead supplier consistency to incorporate audit findings / corrective actions as the need arises.
The minimum requirements we seek:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Procurement or a related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of experience in trading lithium resources and commodities.
- 2+ years of experience in Battery Value Chain processes.
Our preferred qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in precious metals allocation and procurement.
- 1+ years of experience in mined-materials analysis.
- 1+ years of experience in the mining industry.
