Company Overview

At Motorola Solutions, we believe that everything starts with safety. It’s the constant that empowers people to confidently move forward. It can fill a flight or sell out a stadium. It can care for a patient or graduate a class.

As a global leader in public safety and enterprise security, we create and connect the technologies that help to keep people safe where they live, learn, work and play. Our integrated technology ecosystem unifies critical communications, video security and access control, and command center software, enabling collaboration in more powerful ways.

At Motorola Solutions, we’re ushering in a new era in public safety and security. Bring your passion, potential and talents to a career that matters.

Department Overview

The West Region Strategic Project Team works with customers across the Western US ranging from Texas in the East to Washington in the North and California in the South and all states in between. As a Technical Program Manager, you will help coordinate, plan, prioritize and execute projects within Motorola’s Software Deployment and Video Integration organization. You will be responsible for oversight of the technical software and infrastructure solution delivered in the region’s largest and most complex software deployments. Together with the Program Director, you will prioritize technical project deliverables, identify risks, create mitigation plans, set up project schedules, ensure orderly execution towards delivery, and most importantly focus on system and technical details, integration points and other system issues and scalability. You will be expected to provide insights and recommendations on technical decisions that will impact the successful outcome of the projects.

The Strategic Projects Team is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Training Delivery Project Manager to oversee the successful implementation and delivery of a training program for a Police Records Management Software Application. The training program aims to transition over 10,000 police officers and 4000 additional administrative support staff from a manual process to a digital records management system. As the Training Delivery Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the training project and ensuring its smooth execution within the established timeline and budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments and feedback mechanisms, making necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to end-users, addressing any training-related issues or concerns.
  • Oversee the delivery of training sessions, in-person, ensuring high-quality instruction and effective knowledge transfer.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive training plan for the implementation of a records management software system for a prominent and powerful police organization.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure training materials align with the organization's needs and objectives.
  • Track and report training progress and metrics to project stakeholders and management.
  • Organize and schedule training sessions, ensuring appropriate facilities, equipment, and resources are available.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices related to training delivery in the public safety sector.
  • Implement change management strategies to support the transition from manual processes to a digital environment, addressing potential resistance and promoting user adoption.
  • Collaborate with the Director of California strategic project team to align training objectives with overall project goals and milestones.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop training content, including manuals presentations, e-learning modules, and hands-on exercises.
  • Conduct training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and tailor training programs accordingly.

What we are looking for:

  • Present a superior level of professionalism and discretion in all interactions, both internally and externally to the organization.
  • Ability to view issues from multiple viewpoints in order to communicate with team members and resolve or avoid conflicts inherent in communication.
  • Handle ambiguity & work independently to drive tasks to completion with minimal direction.
  • Prior experience with or understanding of project earned value management practices, including analysis of cost and schedule variances, time-phased budgeting, development of bottoms-up estimates to complete, and analysis of estimates of completion to ensure successful management during all project stages. Familiarity with project support and control methodologies, preferably in engineering or software development/deployment.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Teams and Word as well as Google Workspace tools including Docs, Sheets, Sites and Slides.
  • Understanding of PMI project methodology and program/project delivery best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Willingness to travel occasionally and work on-site in the Los Angeles area.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Project Management, Education, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with change management principles and techniques to facilitate organizational transformation.
  • Preferred project management qualifications such as CAPM, Project+ or PMP
  • Strong understanding of the public safety industry, preferably with experience working in or with law enforcement agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including senior management, technical teams, and end-users.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using training software, e-learning platforms, and virtual training tools.
  • Must be able to read, write, and clearly speak and understand English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve issues during training delivery.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with records management systems or other complex software systems is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, specifically in training delivery, change management, or software deployment.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Note: This position is remote, but requires travel. Candidates can reside anywhere in the Western United States (California preferred).

Salary Range: $70,300 - $128,800 per year
