About The Team


BigFuture is a free online guide to help all students take the right first step after high school. The BigFuture Student Engagement team works on a national scale to connect students and caring adults with BigFuture. The team runs live virtual events including Real Talk, which reached 100,000 Black students and families in 2022, and BigFuture Live, which has connected 100,000 students and families with college and career students in the last year. Beyond live events, the team’s efforts also include the following: BigFuture Scholarships which have rewarded students with over $19 million since 2019, National Recognition Programs which recognized over 70,000 high-achieving Black, Indigenous, Latino and rural students this year, and BigFuture Ambassadors, which has engaged over 10,000 student leaders across the country in the last two years. The team is continually in touch with students, counselors, teachers and parents to understand their changing needs and how BigFuture can help them explore careers, plan for college and pay for college.


About The Opportunity


As Associate Director of BigFuture Virtual Event Operations, you will leverage your commitment to students, problem-solving skills and detail orientation to deliver outstanding virtual events in partnership with the Real Talk and BigFuture Live Directors. You’ll implement and continuously refine project management and organizational systems to deliver smooth events. You’ll work closely with the team’s Directors for BigFuture Live and Real Talk as well as our event platform vendor and the Product, Technology and Marketing teams. You will keep speakers and internal stakeholders well-informed. You’ll provide excellent customer service to speakers and attendees before, during and after events. You’ll continually track and report event engagement metrics to drive continuous improvements to our live events.


Virtual Event Operations (40%)


  • In partnership with Web Production, coordinate updates to registration forms and landing pages before and after events
  • In partnership with Marketing, manage implementation of reminder and follow-up emails for Real Talk and BigFuture Live events
  • Serve as point-of-contact with speakers to communicate information, answer questions and onboard them for events
  • Schedule and facilitate rehearsals with speakers in partnership with the BigFuture Live and Real Talk Directors
  • Implement and refine systems for day-to-day communications with the event platform vendor to ensure smooth events


Virtual Event Content Support (20%)


  • Coordinate staff volunteers and assist with answering attendee questions via live chat
  • Coordinate production of short videos with highlights from Real Talk and BigFuture Live events


Progress Monitoring (20%)


  • Monitor registration and attendance on event platform, regularly update trackers, and update internal stakeholders
  • In partnership with Learning and Assessment, implement post-event surveys to collect participant feedback


Student Engagement Support (20%)


  • Act as a utility player by supporting implementation of other Student Engagement initiatives as needed


Preferred Skills And Other Attributes For The Role


  • Availability to staff events up to two evenings per week throughout the school year
  • Comfort with ambiguity
  • Availability to travel for one to two days every other month
  • Experience working within, alongside, or as a partner to the Black and/or African American community
  • Willingness to pivot and innovate regularly, based on user feedback and lessons learned
  • Experience in virtual events, education, product or program operations
  • Ability to motivate and inform speakers, volunteers and other internal stakeholders
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to track, analyze and synthesize data
  • Strong instincts about how live events can help Gen Z students prepare for life after high school
  • Experience learning and implementing event platforms or/and other tech platforms
  • Outstanding clear, compelling and accurate written and verbal communicator
  • Superb organizational systems and use of project plans to implement complex projects
  • Curiosity and eagerness to act on constant learning and implement feedback
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

The salary offer of an individual candidate within this range is specific to their location and qualifications
