Chief Of Legal Counsel - General - Lead

The Lucky Foundation, a 5013c3 Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation governed by adventure enthusiasts who are driven towards sourcing scholarships to empower the youth of fallen United States Military and First Responders, is seeking volunteer leaders to join its dynamic Advisory Board of Directors.

The Lucky Foundation is seeking a nonprofit legal expert to join our Advisory Board as a Chief of Legal Counsel - General. The Chief of Legal Counsel - General will be part of the Leadership Committee of the Advisory Board of Directors, a position which comes with more responsibilities than joining as a member. The Chief of Legal Counsel - General position will be responsible for providing direction, guidance, and leadership.

Duties Include:

• Legally filing for trademarking and copyright of intellectual property
• Investigate matters of litigation, tax filings, document retention procedures, governance documents, leases and other contracts, policy review, internal controls, and insurance.
• Facilitating filings of licensing forms and other statutory requirements
• All other applicable duties.
• Advising executive members on new laws, existing laws and legal rights that would impact functionality of the business
• Communicating with outside counsel
• Overseeing the legal matters of the 501c3 nonprofit corporation, including acting as the business’ legal representative
• Keeping a record of all legal documents and proceedings for the company
• Crafting and reviewing legal strategy in response to any litigation

Skills and Qualifications:

• Laws are constantly changing, and a General Counsel needs to remain informed of all the latest changes on the federal, state, city and county measures that could impact the operation of the business.
• When an entity files litigation against the business, the General Counsel needs negotiation skills to charge of the response, from formulating a strategy to going to the courthouse to argue a case.
• A General Counsel needs leadership to manage several legal experts and to direct them and Directors at the company to achieve the best legal outcomes.
• A General Counsel needs expert communication skills to ensure all litigation information and instruction to committee members are clear and effectively ensure the desired outcome.
