Penguin Random House is seeking an Assistant Manager of Production for the Penguin Young Readers Group, Reprints. The Production Department is responsible for the manufacturing of books. This includes estimating, scheduling, order placement and monitoring of the printing and binding of all the book’s components.
The Assistant Manager position is expected to manage reprints for various titles over several children’s and young adult imprints (1/c and 4/c paperback and hardcover, picture books and novels), as well as slipcases for box sets related to those books.
Job Responsibilities:
- Correspond with domestic and overseas vendors daily on orders, schedules, and corrections
- Estimate and place orders for rush requests
- Perform other related projects or administrative duties as assigned or required
- Review titles on weekly reprints agenda, create, and track purchase orders
- Review finished product for quality
- Communicate with Operations, Managing Editors, and Design to implement corrections and repackages
- Enter/maintain data in SAP

- Previous production experience managing a variety of backlist titles, including 1/c and/or 4/c paperback, hardcover, picture books, and novels
- Knowledge of SAP a plus
- Ability to handle many titles simultaneously, shift priorities quickly and meet deadlines with a varied workload
- Ability to handle book estimations
- Must be detail oriented and organized
- General computer knowledge – MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal & written, with internal staff and external persons
The salary range for this position is $63,000-$65,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
