Job Description

We are a major global non for profit cancer foundation and are in search of a Assistant Director of Development.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Director of Development, Events is responsible for the management and coordination of fundraising activities and works directly with the Director of Development, Events. Responsibilities include collaborating with internal departments for the implementation of marketing plans, managing peer-to-peer event websites and communications with event organizers. This position develops individual and corporate sponsorships for assigned events and works in coordination with team members on other fundraising projects as assigned by the Director of Development, Events and Senior Vice President, Philanthropy.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and participate in the planning, implementation, and execution of fundraising activities; including annual gala and peer-to-peer events.
  • Coordinate department stewardship activity, assist with post-event wrap-up including committee meetings, volunteer and participant evaluations, budget assessments, credit card payments, invoice preparations, and financial reconciliations.
  • Maintain and broaden social networking activities to highlight the organization and fundraising efforts.
  • Coordinate event logistics, publicity, including public relations, advertising and collateral material design, production, and distribution.
  • Willingness to perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Occasionally travel to events and speak publicly on the foundation’s behalf.
  • Manage office duties that include mail logging and acknowledgment letter distribution process.
  • Cultivate and expand sponsorship development and fulfillment, including preparation of marketing impact reports, sponsorship packages, and media opportunities.
  • Create and manage peer-to-peer event websites and fundraising pages; maintain a comprehensive understanding of the peer-to-peer fundraising database.
  • Prospect, identify and secure sponsors for fundraising events and programs.
  • Manage all aspects of volunteer committees and coordination, including but not limited to, staffing, recruitment, supervision, training, and acknowledgement.

Skills/ abilities required

• Sound knowledge of fundraising practices and philosophy of charitable giving.

  • Excellent event planning, logistics coordination and project management abilities.


• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with a passion for relationship building and engaging with external audiences.

• Skilled at preparing and making live presentations at in-person and virtual programs.

• Demonstrated ability to work with a multidisciplinary fundraising team to meet milestones and objectives.

• Must be detail-oriented with strong critical thinking skills to effectively organize and prioritize workload to meet frequently changing demands in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to supervise event staff, manage vendors, and use independent judgment to offer in the moment solutions.
