Job Description
The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Assistant Director, Athletics Live Event Production. This is a full-time (probationary and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 215 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Assistant Director, Athletics Live Event Production is responsible for coordinating the BTN Student U program, as well as supporting the management of live event production, and enhancing the image of The University of Iowa Athletic Department. The person in this position will be required to work evenings, weekends, and holiday hours as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic arts, design or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Produce and edit videos, both in studio and on location, utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite (or equivalent-please specify software used).
  • A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy standards;
  • Ability to move and load 50 pounds.
  • One (1) year of experience and extensive knowledge and ability to creatively shoot and edit in an intercollegiate athletics setting, including:
  • Ability to work constructively and collaboratively in a diverse environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships including working collaboratively with other external relations staff (e.g. marketing, athletic communications, graphics) on group projects;
  • Direct multiple camera live productions;
  • Utilize content management programs to deliver content to social media platforms.
  • Produce and manage a multiple camera live streaming production crew for an athletic event;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with a wide variety of constituents, both internal and external to the university setting, e.g. central campus, media personnel, patrons and vendors;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;


Desired Qualifications
  • Experience and working knowledge of video production utilizing professional-grade cameras and editing equipment, including a basic understanding of video routing systems and broadcast studio production;
  • Experience with control room audio boards, replay systems, graphics programs, and control room routing.
  • Ability to coordinate and stream multiple live events simultaneously;
  • Instruct others in basic shooting and editing techniques;
  • Utilize Adobe Creative Suite and New Tek Tri-caster (or equivalent);
  • Working knowledge of and ability to:
  • One year of supervisory experience:
  • Troubleshoot basic IT and live video streaming issues;
  • Experience with online video sharing platforms, YouTube, Live U etc.;
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the professionalism and intensity necessary to successfully contribute to a Division I athletics program.
