Job Description
The University of Iowa Athletics Department seeks applications from self-motivated, results-oriented individuals with the knowledge, ability and interpersonal skills required to serve as Associate Athletics Director, Compliance – a full-time, 12-month position, salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, including full University benefits. Responsibilities: The Associate Athletics Director, Strategic Compliance is responsible for oversight, supervision and coordination of all activities related to athletics compliance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Big Ten Conference and University of Iowa bylaws, rules, and regulations. In providing leadership to the Department and Institution, this position shall create an atmosphere for commitment to compliance and institutional control with all coaches, staff, student-athletes, university personnel and boosters.

Required Qualifications


  • Proficiency in commonly used technology such as the NCAA Apps, Teamworks, compliance/recruiting management software (e.g., ACS, JumpForward, Recruiting Radar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community;
  • Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations, processes, interpretations, appeals and governance structure; demonstrated commitment to institutional control;
  • Minimum of seven years of recent progressive professional work experience in an NCAA Division I compliance role;
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and administrative skills;


Desired Qualifications


  • Three or more years of management/supervisory experience in a compliance-related position at either a Division I athletics compliance office, a related position at a Division I Conference and/or the NCAA;
  • Proven experience in working with high profile intercollegiate sports programs, especially Division I football and basketball;
  • Juris Doctorate highly desired;
  • Demonstrated familiarity with social media (web-based and mobile based technologies).
