Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Arts Education, Performing Arts, Theater or related field supplemented by three year(s) of experience in an art education environment or nine (9) seasonal class sessions at Fulton County Arts Centers or equivalent arts education environments; may require one (1) year of experience in a lead capacity coordinating the work of co-workers; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: May require certification in instruction in area of assignment. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
EXAMINATION:
The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at time of employment, for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position.

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to plan, coordinate and teach fine arts programs and special events for County residents. Areas of assignment may include visual arts, literary arts, graphic design, music, dance, theater and ceramics.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
May lead and coordinate daily work activities of assigned crew or co-workers: confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities; organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with co-workers, may assist with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise; assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; may assist with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations.
Plans, coordinates, and conducts fine and performing arts programs including classes, workshops, camps, exhibits, and other special events; creates programs and curriculum;
establishes and distributes schedules; processes participant registrations; conducts auditions; teaches classes; monitors programs and evaluates program outcomes; maintains related documentation.
Performs general customer service and administrative duties: receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints regarding programs, policies and/or personnel; attends meetings; assists customers; answers the telephone; prepares reports and correspondence; enters computer data, etc.
Creates promotional materials to increase public awareness of and participation in fine arts programming; designs graphics; prepares news releases, flyers, brochures, etc.
Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies: initiates requests for and/or processes purchase orders for equipment and supplies; ensures proper use, maintenance, and storage of all equipment and supplies; initiates requests for repairs; maintains inventory records.
Develops cooperative partnerships with area schools, community organizations, and other arts organizations for the enhancement and support of fine and performing arts programming; and makes presentations to various groups as requested.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation, including submission forms, contracts, billing statements, class/event registrations, class schedules; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including submission forms, performance evaluations, exhibition proposals, invoices, class/event registrations, class attendance reports; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments: operates and maintains pottery wheel, kiln, hydrometer and other equipment; operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
Communicates with supervisor, other employees, patrons, artists, musicians, students, vendors, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems; to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
