Job Description

PLTW is seeking an Algebra 1 curriculum contractor. This position will work directly with the PLTW team to create a new Algebra 1 curriculum and the supporting teacher training. The contractor will advise, develop in collaboration, and review curricular materials.


Responsibilities

  • Advise on pedagogy and best practices for teaching math.
  • Review and give feedback on curriculum content developed by the team.
  • Collaborate to develop a subset of the curriculum content (activities, projects, and problems) that align to state standards.
  • Assist with tasks to help with testing and teacher training.
  • Advise on ways math teachers utilize supplemental content in their classrooms.
  • Review and provide feedback on the design principles drafted by the team.
  • Review and provide feedback on the standards alignment drafted by the team.
  • Collaborate in the development of the teacher training materials (PLTW Core Training).
  • Collaborate in identifying authentic career connections that underscore the importance of Algebra 1 concepts in careers.
  • Advise and help develop math problems that are engaging, relevant, and real-world.
  • Review and provide feedback on the frameworks drafted by the team.
  • Collaborate in the development of the Instructional Design Plan (IDP).

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certification to teach Algebra 1
  • At least three years of experience teaching Algebra 1
  • Knowledge of state standards for mathematics
  • Experience in curriculum and training development


Availability: August 2023 to July 2024

Bill Rate: $35 per hour not to exceed 40 hours a week
