Job Description
Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operations of long-term care skilled nursing facility in accordance with resident needs, government regulations, and Bethany policies, with focus on maintaining excellent care for the residents, while achieving facility's business objectives.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Ensures all reporting requirements are met and complete all required paperwork; ie. infection control, accident/incident reports, state reporting, etc.
  • Sets tone and atmosphere of nursing home; promotes favorable public relations within the community and maintains high employee morale.
  • Work in conjunction with Bethany Administration and department managers to provide ongoing education and in-services to staff on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for the overall health and welfare of the residents; monitor the residents care to ensure quality and appropriateness of services.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with residents' families, contributors, and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of economic conditions and ability to recommend adjustments to the cost of operations accordingly.
  • Ensures that care procedures are carried-out in compliance with all state, DOH, and OSHA regulations; random audits performed as needed; update policy and procedures as needed.
  • Is knowledgeable of and follows all federal, state, and local standards for nursing home operation; assures that the facility meets the requirements of licensing authorities.
  • Participate with the organization and implementation of new hire orientation.
  • Responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the facility, program development, and the coordination of services.
  • Coach & lead nursing home staff; understand their jobs and responsibilities and provide supervision and coordination of work by various departments.


Basic Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversee physical facility operations; supervise maintenance of building, grounds, and equipment.
  • Keep current on all Medicare/Medicaid laws pertaining to the nursing home operation.
  • Authorizes purchase of supplies and equipment expenditures within approved budget.
  • Review and maintain all consultant contracts.
  • Participate as professional resource for nursing home and campus staff.
  • Ensures nursing home equipment/emergency equipment is in proper working condition; perform appropriate equipment audits.
  • Liaison between all departments; work with departmental managers to ensure that all aspects of the resident's needs are met and carried out in accordance with mandated regulations.
  • Endorses and complies with the Vision, objectives, procedures, and policies of Bethany Village.
  • Train managers to provide appropriate coaching and disciplinary procedures.
  • Prepares annual budget for governing board.
  • All other duties as assigned. Major skills: Excellent supervisory skills and ability to be a good listener are beneficial.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, orienting and supervising staff; participate in employment decisions affecting staff.
  • Reports to the governing board on a regular basis.
  • Coordinates work with other social and health agencies.
  • Assist with the mediation of employee complaints and grievances.
  • Implement & oversee the nursing homes' Quality Assessment and Quality Improvement Process.
