Trauma Clinical Research Nurse Jobs

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Two or more years of nursing experience working in a hospital setting.

Minimum of 1 year or more years of experience working in an Oncology specialty area in a hospital or clinic setting.

Minimum of 6 months of clinical research nursing experience.

Maintains active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with subjects in a clear and confident manner.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Knowledge of medical terminology, drug calculation skills, and clinical medicine

Bachelor of Nursing or another Science degree preferred, or requisite combination of education, training, and experience

Administering investigational medications or providing patient education regarding administration, as necessary

Documenting study data in patient records (paper and electronic, as applicable) to capture protocol requirements

Participating in recruitment and selection of study patients by interviewing and documenting medical history / medication history per protocol requirements

Excellent clinical, analytical and organizational skills with demonstrated research nursing ability. Working knowledge of clinical trials administration.

Proven ability to manage several projects concurrently while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.

This position will coordinate care of patients of other research coordinators within the Division as needed.

This position will perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Clinical Trials Unit.

Collect, store, and manage study data and databases.

The nurses may perform the following duties and responsibilities

Measure vital signs and measure weight, height, etc.

Extract patient medical history information from the medical record.

Recruit, screen, consent, and enroll participants.

Perform testing visits and collect study data.

Communicates with Sponsored Programs Administration to ensure proper management of charges and billing.

Recruits, interviews and obtains informed consent from prospective subjects for entrance into clinical trials and studies.

Coordinators appropriate laboratory tests and other procedures for subjects participating in studies; including drawing blood or collection of other samples.

Coordinates with Investigational Pharmacy for subjects to receive required drugs.

Coordinates and submits IRB protocols, reports, revisions, updates, approvals.

Records appropriate clinical and laboratory data on forms provided by the principal investigator(s), federal government, and/or industry sponsors.

Provide support to the Department Head of the CID, Directorate for Professional Education, and Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP).

Provide IRB/HRPP support to the PI in the development and implementation of recruitment strategies in accordance with IRB/HRPP requirements and approvals.

Experience supporting research protocols for IRB and Institutional Animal Care and Utilization Committee (IACUC)

Working knowledge of United States Federal government regulations regarding the conduct of human clinical research.

Clinical competence in application of professional nursing theory, practices, and skills for the care of pediatric and adult patients.

Skilled in counseling, providing guidance, and maintaining interpersonal relationships.

CLINICAL TRIALS RESEARCH NURSE / RN

Full Time 8am-4:30pm / 80 Hours per Pay

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

CO RN license or eNLC privileges

Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

Monday-Friday with evening or weekends as needed to meet Trauma Program requirements or to meet departmental needs

12 hours of trauma-related continuing education annually and all organizational mandatory education

Licensed RN with Bachelors’ degree preferred

Hold current membership in a national or regional trauma organization
