The Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary is seeking a full time Clinical Research Nurse. This person will report to the Supervisor, Clinical Trials Unit in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, & Sleep Medicine. Duties will include study coordinator duties for assigned clinical trials, obtaining IRB approvals for clinical trials, consenting patients for enrollment, processing blood and other specimens, dispensing and accounting for study drug, conducting pulmonary function testing and other study–specific requirements as well as following and coordinating care of patients in assigned clinical trials.
Essential Functions;
This person will be familiar with current research protocol guidelines and assist with reviewing new protocols. This person will be responsible for recruiting and entering eligible candidates into research studies after reviewing the risks and benefits of the study and obtaining informed consent. This person will be responsible for obtaining accurate and complete medical history; obtaining blood and urine samples; and collecting, documenting and maintaining accurate patient records. The person will be responsible for preparing reports to the Institutional Review Board in a timely manner.
This position will be responsible for knowing, implementing, monitoring, and assuring the Program’s compliance with Food and Drug Administration and Office of Human Research Protections research regulations. This position will be responsible for knowing, implementing, monitoring and assuring the Program’s compliance with University of Florida institutional regulations regarding research. This position will be responsible for maintaining timely, accurate and thorough records of the program’s research activities to fulfil the ongoing research needs and reporting requirements and as necessary to comply with the requirements of governing institutions and research sponsors. This position will be responsible for writing reports and maintaining research program operating procedures in conjunction with the Principal Investigator per the regulations governing the research programs. This position will be responsible for preparing reports to the Institutional Review Board in a timely manner. This position will be responsible for communicating with research sponsors, monitoring agencies and the Institutional Review Board(s) in a timely, accurate, and effective manner.
This position will coordinate care of patients of other research coordinators within the Division as needed.
This position will perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Clinical Trials Unit.
$60,500 - $78,540 Annually
Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program and four years of professional nursing experience. Licensed as a registered nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret clinical research and subject information. Ability to generate reports, business correspondence and research procedures. Ability to effectively communicate information to consumers, research subjects, health care professionals and the general public.
