Moderate to strong mathematical knowledge of advanced calculus, differential equations, numerical analysis, numerical optimization, linear algebra, and analytical geometry

Knowledge of the relationship between physical models and what the model is meant to describe

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Be able to maintain a professional work ethic while working remotely

Strong interpersonal skills for working with cross functional teams

Modeling our unique LGRIN technology in our commercial and internal optical design software

Minimum level of education: Masters Degree in Materials Science and Engineering required.

Follow up regularly with production site to ensure timely workflow and product delivery to customers.

Perform sputtering target bonding and other final machining procedures prior to shipping and delivery to the customers.

Complete and publish novel LTS production processes. Prepare and publish review cutting edge material research and processes stemming from incoming projects.

Proven project management experience of $1M+ capex projects with cost benefit analysis development.

Manage project execution to ensure they are delivered to scope, on time and on budget.

Iterate engineering design to meet functional requirements and lead vendors through mechanical, electrical and software design reviews.

Interface with facilities / MEP team to forecast utilities requirements, provide utility submittals & follow-up for timely utility connections during launch.

Manufacturing Engineering experience across all phases of a product program (from concept planning through to execution).

Experience designing, commissioning, ramping-up automated / robotic manufacturing equipment is required.

Produce detailed technical reports and provide effective technical presentations to technical and management audiences.

BS/MS degree in Corrosion, Metallurgy, Materials Science & Engineering, or related degree. Other qualifications may be considered based on relevant experience.

Material Engineer Duties and Responsibilities:

Establish metallurgical requirements for equipment and piping in power systems, petroleum refineries, petrochemical plants, and power plants

A sound knowledge of material properties.

Knowledge of international materials standards and pressure vessel and piping fabrication codes

Working knowledge the principles and practices of Materials Engineering

Specific capabilities required for the role include:

Experience with material selection and qualification for product design

Minimum 5 years work experience in a materials or product design environment

Experience leading large alloy development and processing-related projects

Experience employing computational materials engineering for alloy design and process optimization is highly desirable

Experience in the physical metallurgy and processing of aluminum, stainless steel, or titanium alloys

Experience with additive manufacturing, metal casting, or net shape powder metallurgy processing is also desirable

In-depth knowledge of thin film optical coating design, equipment, process, and characterization

Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English

Hands-on experience and proven track record in relevant areas in optical coating industry, advanced process technology development, and associated equipment

Experience managing domestic and international vendors

3+ years of professional work experience in related field

Strong technical background in optics, thin films, or materials

Detailed oriented, ability to effectively prepare and present information to top management

Experience in foundry practices, heat treat processes, and failure analysis is preferred.

Tribology Engineering experience is preferred

CAD & FEA experience is preferred

Magma simulation or similar software experience is preferred

Hand-on experience on lab testing equipment (tensile, impact, etc.)

Develop and evaluate new elastomeric materials through characterization, testing, analysis, and modeling.  Candidates with experiences on FEA modeling are preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering with minimum 3 years direct experience

Advise on material selection, property data and failure avoidance.

Develop, evaluate, and qualify special processes such as compounding, extrusion, injection molding, compression molding, additive manufacturing, and their applications.

Write materials and process specifications and standards.

Provide material consultation to InTouch engineers, field locations and customers.

5+ years’ experience with free space optical systems requirements development

Management of multi-disciplinary teams over diverse geographical locations

5+ years’ experience with design, analysis, and prototyping of free space optical communication systems; including link budget analysis

5+ years’ experience with system performance modelling using commercial software tools, such as MATLAB, Ansys, STK

Experience with Agile development framework and practices

Ability to manage proposal efforts and participate in ongoing business development

Recommend and help achieve continuous improvements in lab equipment, capabilities, and procedures

Perform materials testing on incoming metallic and polymeric parts

Drive effective root cause analyses and corrective action for materials issues

Provide materials engineering support for internal heat treatment, welding, surface modification and coating processes

Conduct failure analysis of components and processes used on engines and other applications

Provide guidance to Engineering for material selection and improvements, and participate in technical decisions regarding materials aspects of design

STANDARD JOB : Technical Skills

Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes to support customer products.

Develop application software and tooling for a comprehensive set of complex machines and mechanical process steps within a manufacturing sector.

Initiate and lead the assessment and provide feedback to product designers on suitability of designs for manufacturability.

PhD or MS with 5 years’ experience; Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics or Mathematics or equivalent

Experience utilizing MATLAB, Python or equivalent, Zemax or equivalent optical modeling, experience with image processing and/or optical sensor modeling
