Job Description

Korn Ferry company has partnered with our client on their search for the role, Materials engineer.

We are seeking a Material Science Engineer.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write and maintain experimental material specifications and procedures
  • Audit EAF, AOD, and Melt Shop processes for compliance
  • Collaborate with various internal & external foundries to produce experimental materials
  • Plan, conduct and implement research & development pertaining to improve parts wear rate and performance.
  • Conduct experiment using lab equipment to determine properties of experimental materials
  • Create reports to aid discussion of experimental material with individual of various technical backgrounds
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Disposition and root cause analysis for non-confirming production lots
  • Conduct failure analysis, write technical reports, and propose countermeasures as required
  • Review metallurgical lab mechanical testing results and troubleshoot problems
  • Propose, performs, and summarize results of simulations pertaining to experimental materials
  • Audit production processes such as melting process, chemistry control, heat treatment, etc. to achieve the desired results


Requirements:

  • Magma simulation or similar software experience is preferred
  • Strong technical background with Research & Development focus
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical instructions, and legal documents
  • Ability to generate concepts and techniques relate to the task on hand
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of calculus, algebra, and advanced statistical theory
  • Detailed oriented, ability to effectively prepare and present information to top management
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries from internal and external stake holders
  • CAD & FEA experience is preferred
  • Hand-on experience on lab testing equipment (tensile, impact, etc.)
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and articles that conform to prescribed format.
  • Experience in foundry practices, heat treat processes, and failure analysis is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or Metallurgical Engineering
  • Tribology Engineering experience is preferred
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
