We are currently seeking a Materials Science Engineer for a our Polymer Science and Materials Chemistry Practice in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will work as part of a team to solve real-world problems. The role requires some travel and will involve extensive collaboration with scientists and engineers across Exponent’s global network of offices. We expect the position to be a great opportunity for candidates to apply their technical and problem-solving skills built through advanced studies. A long-term goal for successful candidates is to build their own expertise in an industrial field, as well as to generate and develop unique business opportunities for the Firm.
You will be responsible for:
- Gathering and researching information from and conveying technical conclusions to professionals in engineering, business, law, and industry
- Analyzing the root cause of a wide variety of polymeric material failures related to issues arising in development, manufacturing, or use of products
- Analyzing scientific information, testing and inspections to address polymer and material science matters related to the use of materials in applications such as consumer products, construction materials, chemical processes, and medical devices
- Writing technical reports and written analysis for litigation matters
You will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Ability to clearly communicate findings through written reports and presentations
- Superior problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
- Ability to work within and contribute to project teams
- Potential for technical and project managerial leadership
- Must be able to convey complex technical information to individuals in engineering, business, legal and related industries
- Strong educational and publication credentials
