Offer guidance concerning the choice of materials, property information, and strategies to avert failures.

Bachelors or Masters degree in one of the following: Metallurgy/Corrosion, Materials Science & Engineering, or similar degree.

Create and assess new materials by means of characterization, testing, and analysis.

Develop, evaluate and qualify specialized procedures such as welding, heat treatment, compounding, and extrusion, along with their practical applications.

Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on plastics and injection molding.

Strong knowledge of polymer materials, processing, and characterization techniques.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Identify and select appropriate materials for specific product applications, considering factors such as mechanical properties, durability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact.

Conduct thorough material testing and evaluation, including tensile testing, impact testing, thermal analysis, and chemical compatibility assessments.

Minimum level of education: Masters Degree in Materials Science and Engineering required.

Follow up regularly with production site to ensure timely workflow and product delivery to customers.

Perform sputtering target bonding and other final machining procedures prior to shipping and delivery to the customers.

Complete and publish novel LTS production processes. Prepare and publish review cutting edge material research and processes stemming from incoming projects.

Proven project management experience of $1M+ capex projects with cost benefit analysis development.

Manage project execution to ensure they are delivered to scope, on time and on budget.

Iterate engineering design to meet functional requirements and lead vendors through mechanical, electrical and software design reviews.

Interface with facilities / MEP team to forecast utilities requirements, provide utility submittals & follow-up for timely utility connections during launch.

Manufacturing Engineering experience across all phases of a product program (from concept planning through to execution).

Experience designing, commissioning, ramping-up automated / robotic manufacturing equipment is required.

PhD in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or related field and at least 4-6 years of related post-PhD experience.

Experience identifying synergetic collaborations between experimental and modeling activities within, and external, to organizations where researcher has previously (or currently) worked.

Experience meeting the technical goals of partner internal and external to organizations where the researcher has previously or currently worked.

Experience conceiving and developing multi-disciplinary research projects on structure/property relationships of materials.

Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Experience leading multi-disciplinary technical projects and technical teams to success.

Produce detailed technical reports and provide effective technical presentations to technical and management audiences.

BS/MS degree in Corrosion, Metallurgy, Materials Science & Engineering, or related degree. Other qualifications may be considered based on relevant experience.

Material Engineer Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage all aspects of development while engaging Design to ensure aesthetic intent; create raw material tracker, material boards, color palettes etc.

Track development sample deliveries and manage the timely delivery of samples, mockups and other submits from sample facilities to the team.

Manage and input Bill of Materials and PD updates in ecVision system, HIGG and internal sustainability calculators.

Manage workload, communication, and direction directly to factories both overseas and domestic.

Manage all communication and support with external design and development agencies.

Experience with additive manufacturing, metal casting, or net shape powder metallurgy processing is also desirable

Demonstrated ability to apply skills and knowledge of technical/operational theories and principles to resolve real-world biomaterials challenges.

7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 5 years of relevant experience

Experience working in a regulated environment on medical devices including catheters and/or medical pacing leads

Experience working with multiple classes of engineering materials: metals, polycrystalline, and single crystal ceramics, glasses, and polymeric materials.

Knowledge of external standards, e.g., ASTM and ISO and their use, limitations, and applications.

Knowledge of Design, Reliability & Manufacturability (DRM), and Six Sigma improvement methodology.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience with JMP or similar statistical analysis software preferred

Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing techniques/principles and implementation is strongly preferred

Experience with an ISO9001 organization, manufacturing plastics and/or polyurethane is preferred

Experience with extrusion, injection molding, and thermoforming processes is a plus

Detailed oriented, ability to effectively prepare and present information to top management

Experience in foundry practices, heat treat processes, and failure analysis is preferred.

Tribology Engineering experience is preferred

CAD & FEA experience is preferred

Magma simulation or similar software experience is preferred

Hand-on experience on lab testing equipment (tensile, impact, etc.)
