Materials Engineer



Responsibilities


  • Identify and select appropriate materials for specific product applications, considering factors such as mechanical properties, durability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams, addressing material-related challenges and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaboration and Technical Support:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to injection molding, such as cycle time optimization, defect reduction, and process stability.
  • Conduct thorough material testing and evaluation, including tensile testing, impact testing, thermal analysis, and chemical compatibility assessments.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in materials science, manufacturing technologies, and injection molding techniques, and apply this knowledge to drive continuous improvement in our products and processes.
  • Propose and lead innovative projects aimed at enhancing product performance, reducing costs, or improving sustainability.
  • Research and Innovation:
  • Injection Molding Expertise:
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of materials and processes into product development.
  • Develop and optimize injection molding processes to achieve high-quality, consistent, and efficient production of plastic components and products.
  • Materials Selection and Evaluation:


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field; Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for design and analysis purposes.
  • Drive & Execution: Proactively identifies what needs to be done and takes action. Explores new ways and pursues new opportunities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicates clearly and concisely, while engaging proactively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on plastics and injection molding.

  • Strong knowledge of polymer materials, processing, and characterization techniques.
