2023 Summer Student Mentor Jobs

Skills, Knowledge, Ability and/or Experience:

Adheres to all responsibilities required of a District school bus driver.

Be able to attain Arizona School Bus Driver's Certification.

SKILLS are required to perform operating a school bus while utilizing multiple operating systems.

Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.

Observes Federal Communications Commission (F.C.C.) regulations when operating two-way radios.

Track mentor experiences, qualifications, and readiness during hiring and onboarding to support the mentor matching process

Read mentor session summaries to track mentor progress with students and offer advice and mentorships as needed

Past tutoring or admissions counseling experience; bonus if you’ve been in a leadership or admin role

Mentor capacity — Dewey Smart has enough mentors at any time to serve our new and incoming students

Mentor readiness — Dewey Smart’s mentors have the resources and training to deliver excellent sessions for students

Implement new software systems to accept and track mentor applications

Reviewing and monitoring security systems

Document incidents, reports, analysis and reviews as necessary

Learning assigned security systems and demonstrating proficiency

Successful completion of Cyber-security Boot Camp

Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication

Someone who is articulate, organized and able to work as part of a team

Help designing, implementing, and maintaining invoice audits and data entry procedures.

Proficient knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Applications

Finance, Accounting, or Economics majors are preferred

Analyze monthly invoices from vendors of campus-wide printers using Microsoft Applications to assure department expenditure is consistent and remains within budget.

Assist with financial reports, budget projections, and audits to help administrators make printing decisions.

Monitor spending and accuracy of financial printing information to ensure it remains within budget.

Experience in supporting students with their career plans and skill development.

Excellent communication and interaction skills.

Previous experience with educational summer programs for Indigenous youth

Completion of ETST 240 or equivalent experience/education

Facilitate culturally relevant educational activites during camp program

Understanding of and experience with Indigenous cultural protocols

Demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant ability with, culturally diverse communities among potential target and constituent populations.

Assisting with facilitation of educational activities

Knowledge of and experience with survey analysis

Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program and meet enrollment requirements

Experience with data interpretation and visuals

Knowledge of literature reviews and background research

Ability to work remotely and independently

graduate research assistant to join our team for summer quarter 2023 at a 50% FTE

Knowledge or previous summer work experience in the petroleum industry would be an asset.

Maintains current safety training and certification.

Student Records Management, Tracking, Program Guidance, and Office Tasks (20%)

Experience working with target population

Prior experience working with TRIO or similar programs

Demonstrated strong oral and written communication (including experience making presentations to a variety of audiences) as evidenced by application materials

Perform advising and mentoring with program participants via phone or zoom.

Assist staff with virtual workshops, in-person events, and summer programming

Basic knowledge of FCC on air content guidelines.

Knowledge of how to operate a radio station control board.

Education: current (or recently matriculated) Benson KBPS/radio broadcasting major student preferred.

Experiece: on air experience from KBPS/radio broadcasting major classes preferred.

Announce and read news for Summer Programming on KBPS Radio.

Provide content for Benson’s summer programming up to 4 hours per day, including writing, editing, and broadcasting.

Strong writing and editing skills; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally, and in writing.

During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.

Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.

Up to 20 hours per week.

Background in journalism, broadcast media, or digital communication and media
