Dewey Smart (deweysmart.com) is an education technology company that provides personalized tutoring, enrichment, and college admissions counseling services to high school students. Our platform connects students with college students from top schools for mentorship from freshman year of high school to freshman year of college and beyond.
About the role
Dewey Smart values outcomes over process. This position will focus on measuring and improving the following outcomes:
- Mentor readiness — Dewey Smart’s mentors have the resources and training to deliver excellent sessions for students
- Mentor capacity — Dewey Smart has enough mentors at any time to serve our new and incoming students
- Student satisfaction – The primary driver of student satisfaction is excellent service delivery from our coaches. Student satisfaction can be measured from reviews and upsells.
This is a multi-faceted role over both sides of our business – students and mentors. This is an opportunity to create the systems and processes that future Dewey Smart team members will build on.
What will you work on?
Mentor Recruiting
- Recruit new mentor applications through outbound sourcing and referrals from current mentores
- Implement new software systems to accept and track mentor applications
- Review applications and conduct interview with new mentors
Mentor Training and Onboarding
- Track mentor experiences, qualifications, and readiness during hiring and onboarding to support the mentor matching process
- Create a process and curriculum for new mentors to be ready to serve students
On-Going Mentor Support
- Read mentor session summaries to track mentor progress with students and offer advice and mentorships as needed
- Conduct on-going professional development to ensure mentors feel supported and to create a sense of mentor community
- Brief mentors on new students to ensure that they are ready to deliver excellent advice
Student Success
- Create processes to ensure students are meeting with mentors on a consistent basis
- Create processes to drive student upsell
- Create processes to track student satisfaction with mentors and to capture feedback and reviews
Who are you?
- Past tutoring or admissions counseling experience; bonus if you’ve been in a leadership or admin role
- Systems-oriented thinker. It's not just about helping one student; it's about how we help one thousand students
- Comfortable with ambiguity and taking ownership in the face of uncertainty
