JOB SUMMARY:
As a Technical Support Engineer, you will be the technical resource for service-related escalations supporting Sedecal and VetRay products; and will be responsible for driving customer satisfaction through Service Excellence by providing technical support over the phone, through emails and occasionally on-site.
The ultimate objective of the technical support engineer is to provide outstanding customer support for all types of customers by communicating technical information clearly so that our customers understand our products and services, and to effectively coordinate solutions with the customer support team and management team.
JOB DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and maintain a proficient level of product, service, and industry-related knowledge
  • Support equipment repairs process and advise field service technicians on procedures, spare parts, test procedures, etc.
  • In cases that cannot be quickly resolved, the candidate will gather the required information in order to resolve the issues with colleagues
  • Use successful, effective field experience and knowledge to provide technical support to dealers, OEMs, and end users
  • Identify quality issues, collect data and report it through the appropriate avenues to ensure satisfactory hand-off and resolution
  • Provide general product-related technical support to our dealers, primarily via phone and email, including Installation, programming, start-up, spare part identification, schematics, documentation, warranty support, failure/ service troubleshooting, and equipment crossover, amongst others, in a fast-paced environment. Will need to be in the office in Niles, with some work-from-home days after training.
  • Cooperate and problem-solve with Engineering and Manufacturing in escalation cases (escalation support, service, follow-up, etc.)
  • Repair equipment in-house, and also some travel (about 10% or less)
  • Solve issues with medical imaging applications, electrical and mechanical components, and software
  • When required, conduct equipment repair according to the defined process, and report actions taken. Test equipment functionality, safety and other needed features
  • Coordinate dealer visits to the customer sites with Field Service Engineers when required
  • This individual utilizes strong customer service paired with a methodical troubleshooting approach to work through a problem
  • Deliver technical support on high-end medical imaging equipment online and or via telephone
  • Communicate daily with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up leading to acceptable customer satisfaction levels
  • This position requires logical and careful dissection of problem descriptions, asks questions and can guide customers of all levels through troubleshooting steps
  • Take ownership of reported customer technical issues and follow problems through to resolution
  • If required, visit customer site to perform evaluations, start-up and/or repair and report on visits
  • Support the 24/7 after-hours emergency support line in a pre-scheduled manner (alternating with other department members)
  • Handle and document calls in a call management system
  • Take ownership, research, diagnose, troubleshoot and identify solutions to resolve complex cases
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Analytical mindset, with good planning and self-learning skills
  • Proficiency in Windows Operating System, MS Office Suite and Salesforce
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex issues on medical devices
  • Experience and knowledge in veterinary/medical imaging business and x-ray system desired but not required
  • Able to lift and/or push up to 75 pounds
  • Adapt easily to change in a high-stress environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and communicate technical terminology
  • Ability to work and bring tasks/projects to successful completion with little or no supervision
  • Experience in troubleshooting and electronics 5+ years.
  • Highly tech-savvy: Skill and ability to understand and use network principles to aid in troubleshooting problems. Experience with basic computer network setup, troubleshooting workstation hardware/software, diagnosing and troubleshooting end-user issues.
  • Willing to travel periodically to support business needs
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and able to manage and prioritize tasks and time demands efficiently
  • Customer service-oriented attitude, and a team player
