Job Description

Attain Partners is seeking a highly experienced program manager to lead a Workday ERP implementation project. The program manager will be responsible for working with client leadership and overseeing the project implementation team and managing all issues, risks, tasks, and key decision-making activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing large-scale implementations for a multi-institution higher education system.


Responsibilities include:

  • Establish a trusted advisory relationship with client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects
  • Understand the scope and details of overall full project plan; ensure sufficient time has been allocated in the project schedule to achieve project goals; identify and communicate the need for resources for tasks or assigned areas of responsibility
  • Lead meetings and provide agenda items in advance of the discussions
  • Monitor progress of tasks and budget against plan, working with the implementation team and client to identify and resolve all issues that could impact project scope, timeframes, and/or cost
  • Manage all stages of the implementation for the client, from requirements definition gathering to project planning and implementation
  • Provide an updated cost impact by fiscal year, as well as by each individual institution
  • Create an inventory of the project integration work that must be completed at each university; develop related reporting functionality and project schedule/resourcing reporting
  • Develop a project charter that articulates objectives, scope, and guiding principles for the implementation and is vetted with Executive Committee for final approval and adoption
  • Provide the Executive Committee with ample notice and information for decision making items (i.e., providing options with written descriptions of each) and formally recording all decisions made
  • Determine how sensitive data, including personal identifiable information (PII), will be secured throughout the project and after implementation
  • Lead and collaborate in the development of key project deliverables; manage and provide subject matter expertise and insight into data conversion strategies, cutover plans, integrations plan, go/no-go decisions, etc.
  • Evaluate alternative go-live dates and implications
  • Ensure that the Workday implementation team, project manager, and appropriate system/consortium members leverage standardized business processes across institutions
  • Clarify whether the Workday implementation is to allow future adoption of shared services, if desired, and assess the implications
  • Develop and distribute concise, weekly project updates to Executive Committee members; share summary updates with all stakeholders


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Ability to travel, as needed
  • Executive presence to support board-level meetings
  • Effective written and verbal communications a must, with presentation experience
  • 20+ years of program managing large scale ERP implementations
  • Working knowledge with at least one of the following business areas and / or experience with at least two functional areas: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Purchasing, Payables, Fund Accounting, Cash/Treasury or Financial Reporting
  • Capable of delivering executive level presentations
  • Ability to recognize personal skills, abilities, limitations, and strengths, taking appropriate action to pursue developmental activities to strengthen skills and experience
  • Demonstrates ability to stay current in certifications, training and industry trends and practices
  • Embraces entrepreneurial spirit in work through recognizing and capitalizing on opportunities to improve the organization
  • Demonstrate high quality analytical and problem-solving skills within time and organizational boundaries.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a project team
  • Significant experience with project managing Workday Financials, HCM, and Student implementations



Education and Certifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred
  • Project Management Certification (PMP, Six Sigma) preferred, but not required
