Job Description

We’re actively seeking a talented Workday HRIS Analyst to join our HR Technology and Analytics team in Newport Beach, CA. Preference is for this role to be hybrid (combination of onsite and remote), however, we will also consider fully remote candidates.


As a Workday HRIS Analyst, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by providing HR technology and systems support to the business. You will fill an existing role that sits in the Corporate - Human Resources division. You will work closely with your HRIS colleagues, as well as with HR Services, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, and IT. This is a highly collaborative position with a variety of responsibilities, including Workday support, reporting and configuration.


How You Will Make An Impact


Systems Administration and Support:


  • Develop Workday reports and dashboards, working with HR program owners proactively to identify value-added metrics and insights.
  • Provide daily operational support for HR application requests and inquiries.
  • Ensure data integrity and security compliance, and adheres to appropriate systems change control/governance.
  • Liaise with PL’s international division to assess and manage global configuration changes.
  • Configure Workday business processes, focusing on core HCM, as well as EIB, Talent, Performance, Compensation, Time and Absence and Recruiting for PL’s US population.
  • Participate in all phases of systems deployment lifecycle, partnering with HR and the business in understanding and documenting business requirements, design specifications, and testing and deployment plans.
  • Train end-users on new and existing processes/functionality, and develop reference guides and procedures.


Process And Systems Improvements


  • Analyze and refine processes to optimize technology capabilities, proactively seeking out and driving process improvements and innovation.
  • Document system, data and process flows to facilitate the identification and improvement of processes and data integrity.
  • Partner with Release Manager to determine the effect of releases and recommends changes for future use.


The Experience You Will Bring


  • Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of people at all levels of the organization and be comfortable presenting and communicating to a variety of colleagues.
  • Understands and translates business rules and requirements into workable application solutions
  • 2+ years’ experience as an Analyst with Workday HCM, Workday configuration and Report Writer.
  • Exercises confidentiality, professionalism, and independent judgement.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and handle a multitude of competing priorities.
  • Experience with systems lifecycle and project methodology, including preparing specifications, process flows, test plans, and cutover plans. This includes support for and input into change management plans.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, IT/IS or related field.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (V-Looks ups, pivot tables), Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Solid understanding of HR processes and data.

Base Pay Range


The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.


$27.69 - $34.64 - $45.05
