We are a purpose-driven carbon management firm dedicated to helping organizations around the world reach their climate goals. We make carbon science accessible and actionable with our end-to-end platform.

Whether a scientist, developer, or carbon markets expert, we are united by our mission to take climate action now. We are experts in our fields and we act with confidence. Located across 4 countries and 10+ states in the U.S., we offer both remote-friendly work options and dynamic, in-person experiences with offices located in Seattle, WA and Oakland, CA.

We recognize that teams with diverse backgrounds and different experiences are powerful. Bringing together a variety of perspectives only enhances how we can effectively address the climate crisis. Together, we are creating an environment where everyone is celebrated and anyone can succeed.

We are looking for VP Finance to build and lead the finance & accounting function at Carbon Direct. This role includes financial planning, reporting and analysis, cash flow management, budgeting and forecasting, capital fundraising, and providing strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization. The VP Finance will report directly to the CEO and serve as an integral member of the leadership team. Although a background in climate work is a plus but not a prerequisite, a passion for solving climate problems is a must.

Communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes, and keep the senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
  • Strategic Financial Planning: Develop financial and tax strategies. Assess the financial efficacy of programmatic operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support operations.
  • Cash Management & Forecasting: Manage the company’s cash flow and forecasting. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes a minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  • Team building: Foster a culture within the Finance function that is responsive to the needs of the business; ensure financial, analytical, planning and operational excellence
  • Investment Management: Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile. Construct and monitor reliable control systems.
  • Accounting: Establish and document accounting policies, controls, procedures, and back-up documentation. Streamline and drive accounting operational efficiencies to reduce close time and ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
