Job Description

Toast is currently seeking a VP, Corporate Finance & Strategy (F&S) to lead our Corporate F&S team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading and driving corporate finance in a technology-based organization, while personifying the values and mission of Toast. The ideal candidate is an inspirational leader who conveys the energy and credibility to accomplish our goals and the experience to lead and mentor a rapidly growing enterprise, as well as one who can lead by example and drive results.
The VP, Corporate F&S will drive the strategic vision related to the annual financial planning and budgeting processes, as well as corporate-wide business modeling, forecasting and management reporting that aligns with the strategic goals of the company. This role requires an in-depth FP&A background with a demonstrated track record of full P&L management, as well as providing deep insights and forecasts to inform business decisions. This individual will serve as an extended partner to executive-level management to enable data-driven decision-making around investments of time and resources while aligning to Toast strategy. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of developing effective working relationships with business partners and serving as a strategic thought partner to drive both financial results and important strategic business outcomes.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
  • Collaborate with Accounting Leadership to ensure Toast has the best-in-class processes around financial close and reporting processes
  • Partner closely with Investor Relations and Financial Reporting in development of public earnings filings, releases and scripts
  • Own key company financial analyses, management reporting and forecasting, focusing on revenue and costs for the Company
  • Highlight and educate executive management of key issues, risks, and business drivers
  • Lead outlook, quarterly forecast and annual financial planning processes to guide investment decisions and drive ROI of strategic corporate investments. Identify P&L initiatives/opportunities both across the Group and within specific business divisions
  • Enhance and continue to modernize key F&S processes with a focused on increasing transparency, accuracy and speed and efficiency by leveraging technology to drive automation to support scaling for long-term growth
  • Create an investment framework to guide decision-making with short and long term investments
  • Effectively manage and mentor finance business partner leadership team and corporate planning & consolidations to be strategic partners to respective functional leaders and drive thought leadership
  • Effectively lead and develop a diverse & highly motivated, enthusiastic, and skilled team.
  • Own quarterly and monthly reporting packages for presentation to executive management and the Board of Directors
  • Partner closely with the global executive management team and serve as a thought leader in meeting financial goals, while also maintaining the foundation for long term strategy
  • Embed an inclusive culture where F&S team can thrive and benefit from continuous development through training and coaching.
  • Oversee finance for our corporate functions, partnering with business leaders on budgets and proactively identifying financial and strategic opportunities
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
  • Extensive experience building, leading and developing the FP&A function. Experience working with large organizations highly preferred
  • Forward-thinking, analytical and problem-solving mindset with a desire to constantly improve the status quo. Drawn to building off of ambiguous and unsolved problems to driving tangible decisions.
  • Able to understand complex business drivers, produce high-quality analytics, develop insights and communicate clearly and succinctly to a different audiences (business leaders to executives)
  • Strong executive leadership skills with experience partnering at the board, investor, and executive management levels
  • Bread puns encouraged but not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • A great storyteller with ability to build and communicate clearly a vision and strategy, and develop and communicate a clear narrative behind the financials.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and proven experience in cultivating collaborative working relationships with teams across an organization. Proven track record of developing people, leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • 15+ years of experience working in hyper-growth environments focused preferably in SAAS company
  • Experience in other areas of finance outside of Corporate FP&A or in strategy and business leadership roles preferred. Ability to wear different hats and bring a holistic perspective to the role.
  • Maintains the highest accuracy and precision, and someone who is highly organized and can manage a diverse team with a diverse range of responsibilities
  • Able to work cross functionally, adapt to changing priorities, manage multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency while meeting deadlines.
