Job Description
VP of Analytics Engineering
Job Summary:
Pfizer is looking for a Senior Leader of Analytics Engineering, leading this function across all commercial analytics verticals. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Analytics Officer, this person will be responsible for leading data engineering, descriptive analytics engineering, BI reporting across all of Commercial/Biopharma ensuring best in class processes and deliverables supporting your Data Science, Insight & Strategy partner organization across the entire data journey from Descriptive to Predictive with key responsibilities for pipeline creation, reporting, and data visualization across the commercial business.
We seek a passionate and results-oriented senior leader to join our team to build data foundations and tools to craft the future. You will design and implement scalable, extensible and highly-available data pipelines on large volume data sets, that will enable actionable insights, strategy and ML workloads across commercial. This includes leveraging large and complex data sources, helping derive actionable insights, delivering dynamic and intuitive decision tools, and bringing our data to life via amazing visualizations. You will also partner with Digital Engineering team to drive enterprise Data strategy and industrialize data products across Pfizer.
The ideal candidate is a self-motived team player, skilled in a broad set of Big Data processing techniques with the ability to adapt and learn quickly, provide results with limited direction, and choose the best possible data processing solution is a must.
Description:
This person will be responsible for data collection and processing for core lines of business and will collaborate with various data scientists, instrumentation experts and engineering teams to identify requirements that will derive the creation of data pipelines. You will work closely with the Digital engineering team to understand the data environment, data flow/pipelines, architecture and internal APIs involved in upcoming and ongoing projects. This role is accountable for delivering specialized data aggregates, projections, and BI solutions for all of commercial and will partner with senior functional leads for Insight and Strategy, Data science, Market Research, Analytics Governance to drive data readiness, fast reporting, and scalable data products that support each brands’ strategic priorities.
  • Provide coverage on ad-hoc data and analysis from diverse partners and automate those needs over time
  • You have a passion for applied empirical analytics and answering hard questions with data, and the demonstrated ability to conceptualize, promote and implement business insights via best in class data tools and visualizations.
  • Understand and Identify server APIs that needs to be instrumented for data analytics and reporting and align the server events for execution in already established data pipelines
  • Successfully bridge engineering and business with ability to speak the common language of both
  • Partner with Digital Engineering team to develop functional data roadmap as well as enterprise data strategy.
  • Work hand in hand with the Platform/Digital and DevOps team for platform/tool enhancements, monitoring and alerting on various data pipelines and jobs
  • You are a top-tier data engineering leader with significant experience in forming teams, organizing processes and workflows, and mentoring/developing the managers what work on your team as well as junior team members.
  • Closely collaborate with marketing and business stakeholders to define and implement the data engagement relationships required with partners
  • Design and build scalable data sets and products based on engineering specifications from the available raw data and derive business metrics/insights
  • Discover and understand complex data sets, identify and formulate correlational rules between heterogenous data sources for effective analytics and reporting
  • Experience in healthcare, Pharma, and their 3rd party data is a plus
  • Translate business requirements by business team into data and engineering specifications
  • You are a hands-on leader who has demonstrated the ability to hire, build and develop high performing teams to meet the needs of a highly dynamic and complex business.
Key Qualifications:
  • Expertise in Python, Unix Shell scripting and Dependency driven job schedulers
  • 20+ years of relevant experience in data analytics/technology
  • Practical hands-on experience with data technologies and Cloud Platform like Hadoop, Hive, Redshift, Big Query, Snowflake.
  • Ability to understand API Specs, identify relevant API calls , extract data and implement data pipelines & SQL friendly data structures
  • 10+ years' managerial experience
  • Familiarity with data privacy standards, methodologies and best practices
  • Enthusiasm for excellence across all disciplines
  • Extensive professional experience with Big Data systems, data pipelines and data processing
  • Expertise in Data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI is a plus
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage work to tight deadlines and handle the pressure of executive requests and product launches
  • Deep expertise in Data Architecture, Data Modeling and task estimations.
  • Extensive professional experience with ETL, BI & Data Analytics
  • Ability to deliver consistent high quality results while working in a dynamic & fast paced environment with extreme attention to detail and ability to self-audit work
  • Executive communication, and presentation skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with rule based engines & tools for multi stage data correlation on large data sets is a plus
Education:
Minimum of bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology or EE, or relevant industry experience is preferred.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $254,400.00 to $424,100.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Pfizer compensation structures and benefit packages are aligned locally, the US Salary range provided does not apply to the Tampa, FL or any EXUS locations.
Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and/or eligibility.
