POSITION OVERVIEW:
IWPR seeks a full-time Vice President or Senior Director, Human Capital, depending on qualifications, to serve as a partner and advisor to IWPR leadership and staff on a wide-variety of mission-critical human resources policies, procedures, and personnel practices. They will be responsible for the human resources infrastructure and department and for centering gender and racial equity in IWPR’s internal policies and practices.
The work of the Human Capital leader will be done in an environment where significant growth and change is occurring.
The ideal candidate is an organized, experienced, adaptable and collaborative human resources leader who thrives in a high impact environment. They are a seasoned human resource professional with experience with organizational development, change management, and employee relations. They will have the skills and knowledge to collaborate, problem-solve, and champion change within the organization and across departments. They must exercise a high degree of integrity, confidentiality, and judgment; and the ability to inspire trust and be trustworthy.
This position is based in Washington, DC and is full-time, exempt, and reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
Duties And Responsibilities
Strategy, Vision, and Leadership
These items align most closely with the Vice President level role, where the Vice President would be expected to have the knowledge, skills and experience to lead the work:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal programs, efforts and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility; and
  • Advise on organizational/strategic changes and internal human capital business processes;
  • Serve on the IWPR Senior Leadership Team
  • Anticipate operational action items and proactively prepare communications, responses, or plans of action to position IWPR leadership with appropriate resources to address a wide variety of situations effectively.
  • Develop a human capital strategy and plan to manage short-and-long term organizational growth and human capital needs;
  • Analyze and recommend alternative or new procedures and processes necessary to maximize organizational effectiveness and efficiency;
  • Provide expert counsel and support to IWPR leadership and senior managers on human resource related matters and issues;
The following items align with both Vice President and Senior Director, where the Senior Director may require more guidance and oversight:
Human Capital Management and Talent Recruitment
  • Work with the Operations Team to identify training and development opportunities to meet the needs of leadership and other staff;
  • Direct and supervise a multidisciplinary team of high-performing human capital specialists responsible for the administration of all human resource activities, programs, and initiatives;
  • Develop policies and implement an organizational strategy to attract, retain, and promote a diverse and inclusive workforce;
  • Ensure recruiting, hiring, and compensation practices are aligned with IWPR commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Be integrally involved in helping to create a positive, affirming, and learning organizational culture and workplace;
Human Resources Administration
  • Oversee and manage the review and standardizing of IWPR policies, implementing compliance initiatives, and managing Human Resource-related vendor contracts.
  • Monitor and update IWPR policies, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance;
  • Update as needed and manage IWPR’s Compensation Program;
  • Oversee the administration of company benefits and compensation programs to ensure competitive and equitable total rewards programs across all job categories; and
Employee Relations
  • Anticipate, manage, and resolve complex, sensitive employee relations matters while upholding an organizational commitment of equity to all staff;
  • Identify, lead, or contract with vendors/consultants to provide trainings for supervisors on important employee relations policies and topics to ensure equitable practices; and
  • Encourage employee engagement through careful design and implementation of feedback channels, including staff surveys, new hire and exit interview protocols, and individual check-ins.
  • Establish and coordinate systems and protocols to ensure our performance management processes are aligned with our values;
  • Monitor employment-and labor related laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance;

Education And Experience
Vice President:
10+ years related experience in human resource management and organizational development within national non-profit organizations. A Master’s degree or equivalent experience/expertise in human resource management or a related field. Human Resources Certification highly preferred (SHRM-CP, PHR, or SPHR). Experience in team leadership, executive leader transition, change management, and implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
Senior Director:
10+ years related experience in human resource management in non-profit organizations. A Master’s degree or equivalent experience/expertise in human resource management or a related field preferred. Human Resources Certification preferred (SHRM-CP, PHR, or SPHR). Experience supervising human resource staff and implementing organizational development and DEI initiatives.
Salary
For Vice President
This position is classified as VP-Operations position in IWPR’s compensation program. The salary for the Vice President, Human Capital, is $150,000-$175,000/year and will be commensurate with experience.
For Senior Director
This position is classified as a modified Administrative IV position in IWPR’s compensation program. The salary for the Senior Director, Human Capital, is $115,000-$130,000/year and will be commensurate with experience.
