To help deliver on this, we are currently seeking an executive to lead the Human Resources (HR) operations team.TheAssistant Vice President, Human Resourceswill have a thorough understanding of the local Hawaii culture and business environment with experience in leading diverse ethnicities and backgrounds. This leader will be adept in collaborating with senior leadership to develop and execute human resources strategies, policies, and programs that foster employee engagement, talent development, and organizational effectiveness across our family of companies.


Reporting to and working in tandem with the Chief Human Resources Officer, this position serves as a senior HR generalist and will lead and oversee all aspects of HR operations, including talent acquisition, compensation, payroll, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and HRIS.


Success in this role will include growth in positive employee culture and strong employee morale through consistent application of HR policies, procedures, practices, and compliance with all federal, state and local government regulations related to the HR function.


This position has five (5) direct reports.


Qualifications


Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required; or combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough understanding of the local Hawaii culture and business environment with experience in leading diverse ethnicities and backgrounds.
  • 7 years of HR generalist experience, including minimum 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience to include responsibility for talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, employee relations and payroll.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Professional certification in Human Resources – SPHR/PHR and/or SHRM-SCP/CP preferred.
  • Position performs occasional driving and therefore requires a valid Hawaii Driver’s License and access to usage of a personal vehicle as needed.

  • Knowledge of payroll principals, practices and regulations, applicable state and federal payroll and related tax regulations, taxation of benefits, IRS code, FLSA, and related state and federal regulations.Accounting, payroll, securities, tax and corporate law relating to stock plans, and experience with SOX requirements preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of State and Federal laws employment related laws and regulations; practices relating to Human Resources; filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit and compensation programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Workers Compensation, Medicare, COBRA, Social Security and DOL requirements.
