Position Overview (office-based in Rosemont, IL with hybrid flexibility; relocation is not available for this position):


The Vice President of Planning, Measurement & Reporting will lead and implement the Dairy Management, Inc. “DMI” commercial planning and reporting process. Reporting to the CFO, this position will work in partnership with DMI’s leadership team and broader federation of 15 state/regions and affiliated organizations to ensure planning and implementation of Unified Marketing Plans “UMP” strategies and tactics to achieve business objectives. Working with leaders of sustainability, exports, innovation and reputation as well as state and region CEO’s, the VP will lead the budgeting and calendarization of the plan and modernization of the process to report and communicate the performance impacts of the UMP. The role will also lead internal and external progress updates and measurement reporting.


This role will:


  • Provide leadership in creating strategic planning framework for the national and local teams, taking a big-picture approach to how the industry is changing, identifying areas of opportunity to evolve our plans and overall opportunities for dairy
  • Establish measurement reporting cadence to inform strategic decisions/BOD meetings, align to timing of trackers, reporting periods, etc
  • Work with leadership team to develop and implement plan “Scorecard” for measurable goals and performance against plan reporting. Drive the training and implementation of Scorecard approach across the organization
  • Lead with a story-based approached to reporting performance against objectives, write the performance narrative of checkoff based on what’s been executed and the impact those activities have had
  • Work with department heads and project leaders to generate and analyze and summarize performance and impact for key initiatives and projects
  • Work across multiple functions and entities to coordinate reporting efforts, summarize and share learnings and implications and work to bring a more unified approach to measuring and reporting against objectives
  • Guide the development and coordination materials associated with key planning meeting, including but not limited to: annual planning kick-off, situation assessment, summarizing discussions/key-takeaways and follow-ups to drive accountability
  • Create measurement framework linked to UMP objectives, work with senior leadership and local states/regions to align on key metrics and objectives. Partner with outside experts to help identify measurement reporting and analytics best practices
  • Inspire 3-year planning vision and engagement through communication with leadership nationally and locally, effectively communicate timelines, objectives and deliverables for both planning and measurement initiatives
  • Work proactively and collaboratively with finance, governance and communications teams to ensure alignment on timing, processes and deliverables to meet needs across stakeholders
  • Evaluate current planning and measurement tools and establish a roadmap for the planning and performance reporting landscape in alignment with evolution of the UMP
  • Establish cadence to regularly communicate to the executive team and other operational leaders on the performance against ongoing plans as well as the adjusted plans/forecasts going forward. Coordinate discussions to identify gaps in the plan, help connect the dots across functions, nationally and locally, and support dialogue to address key issues to identify solutions
  • Track progress against the UMP objectives annual plan deliverables, support continuous improvement and accountability of plan execution
  • Work with cross-functional partners to understand timing of plan deliverables, consolidate cross-entity calendar of events to provide visibility and create accountability for more effective and efficient planning and measurement
  • Lead integration and coordination of the individual Sustainability, People, Innovation, Reputation and Export plans and build a unified plan draft document for leadership to react to. Ensuring goals and objectives in the UMP are clear and measurable and plans, support cross-functional teams in building an integrated plan across functions, nationally and locally
  • Consolidate reports, analyze data and summarize input for measurement reporting, analysis and scorecards, present findings and implications to leadership


Requirements


Minimum Qualifications:


Education & Experience:


Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university, Master’s a plus


Min 7+ years in corporate planning, strategic planning and/or business analytics functions


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


Problem-solving skills, solutions oriented


Strong work planning and project management skills


Ability to think critically and connect the dots across teams


Works collaboratively in a team environment


Strong written and verbal communications, ability to provide clear direction and facilitation


Ability to work across national/regional organization structures


Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, Microsoft Office suite
