SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Planning and Allocation will bring strategic leadership experience in merchandise planning, inventory management, replenishment, supply chain, and allocation in a high SKU business model. The following is a brief description of responsibilities to be performed by the Vice President of Planning and Allocation. This position will not be limited to just those responsibilities described below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partners with cross-functional leaders to communicate merchandise plans; translate plans to distribution, visual, and eCommerce teams.
  • Ensures consistency of in-season replenishment strategies and best practices to meet in-stock targets.
  • Oversees high-level strategic business analysis.
  • Oversees company reporting for the entire merchandising area, as well as any needed ad-hoc analytics to drive the business and enable quick, informed decisions.
  • Strategically manage transfers to all channels.
  • Coordinates the in-season business review and reaction process.
  • Oversees the financial aspect of the buying organization, e.g. Open-To-Buy, Assortment plans, Buy Breaks, Key Item Plans, Replenishment buys and Size Optimization.
  • Translates knowledge of size selling, geographic performance and trends into distribution/allocation action plans.
  • Responsible for financial inventory planning and directing allocation of merchandise.
  • Develop effective relationships with the field to drive selling, visual, in-stocks and conversion opportunities.
  • Manage category level inventory goals for new store openings, remodels and refresh projects.
  • Oversee the management of store profiling and visit stores on a regular basis in order to understand customers’ and stores’ product needs.
  • Ensures the allocation/replenishment strategies and processes are in place in order to maximize sales, gross margin, and inventory turnover.
  • Communicate with field organization, create strategies for clusters of stores by attributes, and translate strategies into assortment plans and buy plans.
  • Develops company seasonal financial targets/plans.
  • Provides gross margin planning and analysis for Buyers.
  • Champions the technical evaluation of MP&A systems and ensures all MP&A tools and technical systems are effective and provide a competitive edge.
  • Advises Buyers on optimum unit purchase planning and stock ratios.
  • Collaborate with Distribution Center and Store Operations to optimize product flow, including Direct to Customer initiatives.
  • Oversees department budget and applies cost saving processes.
  • Leads and develops team of direct reports to ensure consistency of practices that meet and exceed financial targets.
  • Reports on Open-To-Buy financials. Presents risks and opportunities in buyers purchase orders vs. the company’s financial plan.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILIITIES:

  • Working knowledge of technical systems.
  • Strong supervisory leadership skills.
  • Ability to forecast sales with great accuracy (pre-season and in-season, manage risks and drive opportunities).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced proficiency with of Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have extensive experience in MP&A for large specialty apparel.
  • Change Management Experience leading a team during implementation of new inventory planning processes and systems (JDA Demand and Fulfill software, Retail Inventory Management, Store Inventory Management, Retail Price Management)
  • Track record of success leading MP&A teams for a large volume retail business.
  • At least 10 years of industry-related experience including three years in senior management required.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in related field preferred.

Annual Salary Range: $240,000-$270,000: Offer placement within this range is dependent on a variety of factors, including prior relevant experience, skill set, and qualifications
